Thanks Ajoy, but I don't do any photography that requires wide-angle hence no need for a 14~24 or a 14mm. Whatever wide-angle I require, is taken well care off by the 24~70. :)

Though the lense is of older design it is still one of the best in that focal length http://www.nikon.co.in/en_IN/product...tLink=gp11zkzd. The only lense giving it any competetion is the manual focus Zeiss 15mm http://www.kenrockwell.com/zeiss/slr/15mm-f28.htm, but it is quite expensive.

There are some 3rd party filter systems - the most famous is something called LEE - but I have never used these.

Can someone please let know any free HDR software which does not insert a watermark. Came across Luminance , however not sure about watermark.

If you use Gimp, you can try : Fake HDR Plugin

But do note, its single image enhancement plugin. I think it does NOT blend bracketed shots.

In all honesty and frankness, I would comment that this plugin seems to merely increase contrast (whites become whiter and blacks become blacker) and saturation (super colored) and keeps the brightness under control.

"fake" HDR effect is not this but darkening the highlights and lightening the dark end.
Something like what Olympus cameras do in "dramatic tone" effect:

Totally agree. I just used it once or twice. I really dont know, what it does internally. But a couple of reviews said it was decent for a free plugin. Hence I suggested. (Maybe it does edge based micro contrast adjustment, which adds credibility to details. Not sure.)

Search for free panorama stitching software. Most of them do a good job of HDR correction while stiching.

Nikon India clarified on 19th July that Flipkart is not an authorised dealer/partner

Flipkart still has Nikon products listed. What does that mean. Even if they are not, will Nikon not warranty products bought through Flipkart from now on. Do they require bill from authorised dealer or just a unique product serial number (like in hard disks) to warrant.

On a side note, Flipkart delivery days have perhaps increased over the last few months (perhaps since they increased their marketplace sales). Products in Delhi which used to take 1 day or even less may now take 5-6 days to be delivered.

They are now like Amazon - selling through other dealers. Here is a link for D600

You will see that they display the list of sellers and their corresponding prices. Recently I tried getting some books and they redirected me to the actual seller's site for payment.

Thing is I am not sure if Flipkart was ever an authorised dealer because I never saw them listed at all. Therefore I'm also unsure if this notice is with retrospective effect. This is the reason for my encouragement of purchases from only authorised dealers listed at Nikon India's website.

But I recall a post on this thread early 2013 where a TBHPian had spoken to Nikon and they had confirmed Flipkart as a dealer.

So for folks who purchase their gear hereon they would obviously not get warranty coverage.

But here's the catch: Flipkart is slowly morphing itself into a market-place with a variety of dealers selling products online. Probably saves them a considerable sum of money in terms of reducing working capital & impact on cash flows. Now, if one of those dealers is authorised then warranty should be valid. However, it is a big IF because you may get an invoice/receipt/bill from FKT not the dealer in which case it is back to square one.

QTFPSGUI is a good software. You have to play around with tone mapping settings to get a decent result though. Out of the box its not as seamless as photomatix.

One would have thought that with the rupee depreciation, cameras would get more expensive. Apparently not for some models. In tracking prices for some Canon SLRs since 2010, I hardly saw any movement in pricier (>1 lakh) models. However, now EOS 5D+24-105mm is priced at 2.35 on flipkart (was 2.42 in March at flipkart and Canon's sellers). In addition, there is a 5% discount on flipkart for credit card purchases making EOS 5D at around 2.2.

This could also be for other Canon's cameras (P&S and SLR). No such reductions seen in lenses.

Thanks a lot for the news. Just in time.

In the next 4-6 weeks, I would be buying my first SLR and was contemplating on buying from Flipkart or Camshot. However, it would be of great help if you could let me know some genuine dealers in Pune for Nikon/Canon gears. We can continue the discussion on PM, so that I do not spam this thread.

Cheers !
