Team-BHP - The DSLR Thread

I had been to the Photo exhibition yesterday at Bangalore and it was a mad mad rush. I did browse through Tamrac and Lowepro cam bags and Tamrac had a 20 percent discount running. I didnt get to see too many of Lowepro though. I thought i would pick up Lowepro from Jayesh.

However, today i picked up a Tamrac Velocity 8X for Rs 3000. Its a sling bag and i absolutely loved the quality. It holds the Canon 550D body and 70-200 lens comfortably along with the kit 18-55 lens. It has adequate space for another 2 lens. I like the sling bag, which enables one to turn the bag to the front and easy to open the bag without taking it off the shoulder. The stitching quality is superb.

I also picked up Hoya UV and Polariser filters from Jayesh along with the 16GB Sandisk Extreme SD Card. I paid 6500 for all 3 together. I thought it was a good deal.

That leaves me with the Tripod to be purchased. Jayesh suggested Manfrotto, but wanted inputs from this forum. I am also contemplating a 10-20 Tokina lens (subject to my wife's approval). Before i realised, i have spent more than 1 lacs on the camera equipment !:eek:

The stall for Lensbaby/Lowepro bags was Jayesh's and so was the other Elinchrom light one :). Keshav was managing the lowepro/slik stuff and I don't know who the other person at Elinchrom stall was. Spoke to Keshav about Lensbaby price and he said he'll give it for the same price as the exhibition (kind of low if you ask me).

I actually recognized Keshav and went there, that's when he told me that it was Jayesh's store as well. I think it was some Interquip ltd or something like that.

Also D90 can be very well used for Wildlife due to its accurate and fast AF. Also D90 support the AF lenses (the ones without motor).

I am having great fun with the D90. The D90 is very user friendly - I taught myself how to use it (my first DSLR), and I love the way the colours come out. Great for wildlife if you use proper lenses + kit (that I am planning to buy)- or even with the kit lens if you can get close enough, stay still enough and know how to behave around wild animals :-) A few pics of a wild male tusker and the landscape around Gopaloswammy Betta - taken with the 18-105:

Agree with you completely. I am new to SLRs, but this camera is proving to be very user friendly. I am very happy with the initial photos coming out.

I guess you are talking about EF lens. Did you buy a full-frame camera??? :p Else if you have a EFS 18-55 kit lens, its better you buy the EFS 55-250 lens. You will get a new one for around 12k. Of course both these lenses can not be used on a full-frame camera if you wish to upgrade later!!!

EF 28-135 is good option for mid-range zooms for the full-frame camera!!!

Now which brand are we talking here for a new 55-250 MM. I have a feeling its not Canon.

Well if I am not wrong EF lenses can still be used on EF-S mount so even if some one is selling EF 28-135 it is usable only that it will behave as 50 - 200 Lens on EF-S mount , So yes I agree in this case buying EF-S 55-250 makes more sense if both has same F stops and prices are comparable.
