Canon 50D with Bills and Manufacturer warranty is 70K so in grey it would be about 60K.

May be trance_nut is right here. God, I'm really getting old. Let me check with Naresh once again. kaushik, I'll let you know. |
That'll be great, thanks a lot. If it's more than 50k then I'll wait or get a 40D instead.

60k will be bit too high for the grey market price I think. As trance_nut says it probably will be around 55k.
Hi guys, how much is it for Pentax K200D with the 18-55 kit lense in Bangalore? Would like to know both b&w price and w/o b&w price.
Is Pentax a really good system to invest in? Feature wise and build wise the K200D seems good.
I got a 50D gray at 52k last month.

Sankar, the only problem with pentax is availability in India. Otherwise, I would rate it more of a photographers camera than all the Canons and Nikons entry level.
If your budget permits it get K20D, otherwise K200D is also a good buy.
But remember, if you have a lens fetish, it will be tough sourcing lenses, esp third party sigma/tamron lenses

Do note that there is a recall on the D5000 bodies, the D90 seems to be the best among the mid level DX models from Nikon. |
Not all units though. You can cross check with the link they have. My cousin bought it two days ago and he didnt know about the recall part. Sadly his piece also comes under this. !
There is a cashback offer for D5000 with Nikon which you can claim from them.

Cochin has a dealer couple of years ago. I would suggest a Nikon or Canon coz of a.s.s. etc.
I have a 15 month old Pentax K100D with a couple of lenses. Of late I am having a terrible problem with it.
1: When I take the shot, the screen turns into grainy black, though the photos are not affected.
2: Once this happens, it automatically clicks 3-4 times though there is just shutter movement and no pics.
Any idea what could be the problem ?

Sankar, I will agree with tsk that it is a tad bit tough to get hold of Pentax lenses in India. I have a Pentax K200D for more than an year now and apart from the kit lens, I have bought a Tamron 70-300 and a vintage Pentax 50mm F1.7 lens! Both the camera and the lenses have been sourced from overseas.
Agreed it is tough to get lenses in India, the best part about Pentax DSLRs is the compatibility with the beautiful 20th century lenses! You might have to go a little out of the way but worth the effort!

Tanveer, like you said the K200D looks more like a complete camera than the entry level Canon and Nikon products, 1000D and D60 respectively. Eventhough both of them are lovely cameras they lack a few features which i feel is important. 1000D lacks Spot metering, instead it has Partial metering and the D60 lacks a DOF preview, less critical but sitll a feature D60 has only 3 AF points. Live view is something that i don't care for much now. I wish to learn more about photography DOF and sopt metering will help me as i progress. I won't have to change the body for that.
For the time being i might be able to with the kit lens as i will be only learning.

C.A.S.S is really good. A friend of mine dipped his 400D in water while he was on a trek, camera only the lens (kit lens) went under for a brief time. He dried out the camera and the lens and later he found that the aperture diaphragm was getting stuck. Canon A.S.S replaced the lens no questions asked :) Obviously he didn't tell them that the lens went underwater!
Is the Cochin dealer still there? Can you check?

Lovely photos mate :thumbs up
Sourcing from abroad is something that i'm not able to do now. That's why i was looking for local dealers. Tried JJ and Pixetra, online, both don't have Pentax. Can you suggest where to look for K200D in India?
What would be the correct price for used canon 400d with kit lens (2yrs and 20k clicks), i know somebody who is quoting 20k for the camera.
Right price of 400D, 2yrs old is not beyond some 17-18K. Reliance Electronics in Hyd. has stock new 400D with 18-55 lens for Rs 30K with some goodies. Plus you get 2 yr Canon warranty and Canon Club membership which entitles you for a free Bag and Accessories kit worth some 4K.
Xcite here is giving 450D for 39.5K with warranty and canon club membership. Plus they are offering their own free goodies worth Rs 5K. And if you dont want those goodies, you can get a cash discount of 4.5K i.e a net price of 35K,
Better go for a new one Mohand_j. the one you are talking about is 2 yrs old with 20K clicks i.e. 40% life is over. A new Grey Market D60 will cost you some 26K, 450D 31K, Sony A200 some 23K with three yr warranty...then why go for old one...
And as I understand 400D has a real bad grip though it gives awesome pics...

Thanks a lot... The seller bought it for 11k grey. When I inquired its selling at 10-10.5k currently. Hence I doubting the quoted 9k. I think 7.5-8k would be good bargain. Please let me know.
