Actually I should have been more clear - my query was more in line with what Zappo has posted. Actually any work, a person would have to ask 'what is in it for me?'!! You are not going to get any incentive in your work for adding porn!!

I'm not convinced about this one. This is the first such report, and it doesn't make too much business sense.

There's tons of safer ways to inflate usage figures, than downloading x-rated content.

It could be a 3rd party that MTNL is "allowing" into the connections via their JS shadyness, that is finally doing this.

Note that the original article has been updated to say:
UPDATE: A lot of folks have pointed out that this can also be due to a malware infected router pointing to the wrong DNS (thanks!). I ran all my tests through the router, so cannot confirm or deny this, but have updated the post to accomodate that. The root issue of code injection into Google Analytics still stands though.

On the other hand, MTNL most certainly is doing this.

Re: Shady Business: Airtel & MTNL injecting advertisements / js into websites you visit!

I blocked the domains adservers on the router. However, the new problem that crept up was that web pages used to hang while the browser fished for 203.94.243.xx.
I went to java settings in chrome and blocked the same, adphonso, and 203.94 one. That seems to do the trick. Webpages load without a hiccup now, so far.

Any news on whether they are going to stop this icky business?

The only way to block is to use VPN over SSL and use adblocks plugins. Those on MTNL, can you drop me a PM? I want to test if using of VPN over SSL blocks these annoying adds.

Thanks.

It works. The free vpn hide.me works well for windows (only for windows). Where as Apple users (I have iMac and iPad) should block Java in safari.
