need mobile with no camera

Hi friends

I need to buy a mobile with the most important feature
it should NOT have a camera.

Infact this is not for me but for my bro who visits many companies in around pune and due to his work profile he has to leave his phone presently a 6600 at the Security office and once inside he cannot be accessed say for 2 to 3 hours at a stretch and for him to get to the nearest phone on the shopfloor is about 7 to 10 minute walk.

So at the moment i had two phones as a short list
the Nokia Communicator with no Camera model (very big in size / heavy too)
or
the SE M600 (confused about its functions)

can u suggest me phones which could be within a price range of 20k
or
alternatively some pda type phone.

That's easy, look at all the Nokia E series phones like E50, E60, E61 and E70. These have the highest resolution of any phone and have latest S60 OS. Excellent business phones.

Blast from the past, how about the Nokia 6310i? Btw, the Nokia huge comm. i.e. te 9500 has a camera, you are talking about a slimmer one, 9300 which i think has been discontinued. does the 9300i have a cam?

But don't they have cameras? I believe he is specifically looking for a phone WITHOUT a camera. I will have to agree with mason - the 6310i is the worlds solitary bulletproof business phone, with no camera.

9300i does not have a camera.
so 9300i Or 6310i are the options from Nokia as far as i know.

Nope Sam bhai E series nokias have no camera at all. They are purely business phones. Although the nokia E50 does come in 2 variants one with camera and other without.
I'm not sure about the price but the one with camera costs Rs.13,200.

maybe not....
SE M600 / W950 (walkman but no camera) - hte M600 can read PDFs and office files too.

Look at the Sony Ericsson M600. No cam. Solid office-apps and utility.

Wait, cut out the last one, E70 does have camera. Rest don't have camera. I recommend E60 which is 19K, it even has Wi-Fi. I reseached this for 3 months and almost bought it before falling for N73.

My requirements were identical to your bro's. I have to go to many places where cam-phones aren't allowed. I opted for E61; read my mini-review here -

When you say that you want a phone minus the camera, it is still a pretty wide question.

Put up some of your needs. Maybe you wont even need to spend 20K.

Nokia E series doesnt have camera but has Blackberry connectivity and Wi-fi.

Sonyericsson M600 is a pure smart phone based on UIQ.

So list your needs and you will get a better choice.

Just for the record the 6310i is not produced anymore. I should know I owned & LOVED it, but alas couldn't find another one after my first expired.

And the E50 has a camera (that's the only version available officially in India), I know 'cause I own one.
