Hi Guys,

Ordered Samsung LA40B550 this is new model ( last year's were LA40B.. ) got under a promotional deal for employees at 58650Rs. This has 4 HDMI input USB slot and 70000:1 contrast.
...

Congrats, I bought the previous model LA40RB in Nov'07 for 75K and considering the time and new model, that's pretty damn good deal you got there.

Do post a feedback once its up and running.

There are a lot of manufacturers - branded like APC and unbranded ones as well. Just Dial will be a good place to hunt!

Hey Guys,

Can anyone please let me know the current price of the following LCDs in Bangalore/Mysore

1) LG Jazz 32LG80FR
2) Sony Bravia W Series - KLV-32W400A
3) Samsung 5 Series - LA32A550P1

Also please let me know which one of them is better. My budget is 40-45k.

Thanks in advance.

Bought a sony Bravia v series 40v400A: orig price was around 78k, i got it off some IPL special sale lot for around 64k.

the 32W400A was for around 52k with discounts applied.

Overall among the 3 mentioned above in case you are not a big fan of Sony then choose Samsung it is more VFM. Sony positions itself as premium segment in India and thus prices are high elsewhere in developed economies Sony carries same premium as it's competition.

Coming to the so called engine part , It is actually an embedded ARM processor for image processing and decoding and host of DSPs, Most of the time codec vendors are also same in case of patented technologies and it is just that Sony names it as Bravia and Samsung as DnIe but most of the features are comparable.

Now In case you choose Samsung go for LA32B550P1 instead of LA32A ...
B series is new ( 2009) and has better contrast ratio.
Store will try to push A series as they will get new stock in a month or so but insist that you will not buy until it is B series

A models were with 1 HDMI input and B has 3 so you can connect 3 HDMI devices without need to fiddle with cables example ( Media Centre PC , DVD player and in a couple of years cable Set Top boxes will come with HDMI as channels are going to converet to Full HD )

So in terms of features Series B has quite good features over Sony and LG.

However you can discount my views in case there are new releases from LG and Sony in market now.

Slight correction there are 4 HDMI inputs not 3. The features are

Do not buy A model until you get a great discount and just wait for new stock to arrive , B is huge improvement over A in terms of features. And there is not much price difference.

Series 6 are next in the line but they are priced quite high.

if budget is no constraint Series 7 ( LED) is unmatched by any other brand as of today. There is quite a perceptible difference in picture quality and power consumption is very low but then it costs 3X the price of Series 5.

I think that in some developed markets, Panasonic has launched a new range of Plasma TV with a series starting with alphabets. It does not seem to be a continuation of the previous numerical (7,8 etc) series.

Anyone got the pricing of the Samsung LED TVs?

Was it Nov 07 or Nov 08 ?

The MRP for LA40B550 is still 75000 , This is new 2009 model (upgrade on last years) dealers are willing to sell at around 69,000. Instead of reducing the price of series 55X they choose to introduced new features in upper segment ( company policy after testing success in US market with the strategy )

The price I got was under a promotional scheme for employees.

Guys I am cnfused between these two. (I am certain about getting either of these two due the IPS panel, which even Sony Doesnt provide and they are cheap)
Option 1: LG 32LG80FR
Option 2: LG 32LH70YR

The second one supports 100Hz which I like and has a better contrast ratio but at the same time, its 6K higher in price.

Also when I saw both of them side by side, the picture quality looked pretty much similar and honestly I couldnt figure out the what difference 100Hz was making.

Another thing, the LH70 doesn't look as good as the other one.

Still I want to be with the latest tech and keep the budget minimum :P

Suggest me guys.

Thanks very much for the detailed info friend:)

Regarding the LA32B550P1, can you tell whether it is available in India and if it is whats the price of it? Is it better than Sony model which I have mentioned is the earlier post?

Thanks

Hi Amit, is there a 32 inch model for this latest series? If yes, any idea of the approximate cost?
