Is there any full HD plasma for sale in India (official) in the 40"/42"/46" range? Panasonic doesn't seem to be selling full HD plasmas under 50".

I need to buy one ASAP. I dont watch a lot of tv but do watch at least one movie every week.

If you don't watch much TV and you use this largely for movies, you will be better off buying a 720p or 1080p LCD projector. Will be cheaper and much larger than 50"!! Not to mention this will be a cheaper option as well! (of course you can spend bucketloads buying eclectic projectors - as you can TVs)

more than one movie a day, mostly dvd quality or 720p and once a week bluray 1080p - basically its left playing in the background once I come back from office and if its good and I have no office work I watch with concentration.

For the times I watch properly, I would say 720p content is good enough - 1080p or full hd makes no sense atleast at 42" and a distance of 5-6 feet

Couldn't agree more!
A lot of it is in the mind, LOL! Let the brain get some exercise too! Has an amazing capability to fill up the blanks!

I wish I could watch a movie a day. Work means that Monday to Friday is pretty much a write-off. I do remember averaging a movie a day when I was much younger.

kb100, I did indeed think about getting a projector, but I want something that can indeed double up as a regular TV and doesn't require a fully darkened room. I also have some space/arrangement constraints that make a projector setup somewhat difficult.

Certainly want a full HD plasma screen. Very much looking forward to making the most of BluRay as it becomes more common.

Any ideas?

It'll happen again when you get much older! That'll be theBeginning of theEND!! lol:

Hi Friends

We were shopping for LCD yesterday and came across few models that were below 25000

LCD Gurus please review these and post your openions

The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.-vcon.jpg
Videocon HAUTE - 32 inch LCD - Vijay Sales - 24,000/-
- This was placed adjacent to LG, PANASONIC, SAMSUNG and SONY and the dealer was playing Full HD SONY Demo on all.
- I found Videocon outperform Samsung and LG(Scarlet), perfect in sync with Panasonic and Sony.

Another case of manufacturers shafting the Indian consumer.

Panasonic doesn't sell its full HD 42" or 46" plasmas in India, although they have been available elsewhere for almost a whole year. I called them up sometime in November and received very vague responses from the India head office.

As far as I know, the 42PY800 (or equivalent) is still not available in India. Neither is the 46PY800 (or equivalent). And forget about the THX certified screens.

If its not available by May, I'll be buying a Sony LCD (full HD).

Mate,
I would pick Pana 32 its a stunning TV. My friend had the same predicament and in overall rating Pana won. We got it for 30k from J D Electronics. If you want the same price, contact Vaibhav of J D Electronics (91-92822 14702) and refer my name or our forum. He delivers it across India and I and few of our members are impressed with his service.

Thanks. The decision was made and I picked Panasonic too.
The difference was evitable with Samsung LA32A330 displaying on one side and playing One DVD with output on both and similar setting. The sound output from both is something that is not worth mentioning.

Otherwise, Panasonic was outright winner. Paid 31990/- and with a gift voucher of 1600/- and additionally opted for a two year warranty at 2000 bucks from Croma. Since I had to buy quickly, did not call the contact you provided madbullram.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Hi all,

I'm interested in immediately purchasing a 32" LCD TV for home. I've seen the Samsung, LG, Sony, Sharp and even Videocon (seems they are in collaboration with Toshiba)!

I'm currently tilting towards the Samsung Bordeaux (70k MRP + Tata Sky + free fitting) or LG (65 Exhibition price + free fitting). The others were not as impressive..either too costly or lacking performance. Would like to check Panasonic and maybe Philips too.

Any quick suggestions or reviews on which will be a good 32" LCD buy will be appreciated.

Cheers,
Spyder
