Hi guys,

my 3 yr old LCD TV is missing picture and/or becomes non responsive after shutting down and restarting overnight. some trial and error works somehow. now that the prices have come down I will probably buy a better one but just wondering if anybody knows any quick fix. I want to wait till July since I may have a significant move coming up, and prefer buying it locally after I move. in fact I am also eyeing DLP projectors but wifey still prefers TVs.

a trip to the mech will cost more than the TV's value now lol:. The brand is NIKO.

continuing from here, I took out the tuner. does anybody know what is it actually called and if i can get a replacement anywhere?

If i take it out i still have DVI and VGA inputs which would work well for my cable box and streaming thru laptop. and the TV doesn't hang anymore.

AFAIK, it is called just that - tuner!
Tuners can be purchased as independent entities. You'd have to look up OEM suppliers. You might even find the very brand you've taken out!

Yesterday i purchased Sony Bravia KLV-19T400W. Anyone know good picture setting to get quality picture in my TV? I'm using Dish TV.

ok, i went and bought sony bravia KDL 32L5000, for 600 USD.

looks good except for the dark pictures where it's not able to distribute colors evenly. and it has only one RCA input :Frustrati

the niko was opened to it's core, examined and declared DOA. will be sold to a junk dealer at 60 USD today.

LG has just launched new series called "LH20,30,40...."
I am looking to buy 26'' and i found 26LH20 specs are best in caparison with its peers. It has contrast ration of 30000:1 with response time of 6ms. The MRP of this model is 25990, which is cheaper then Sony and Samsung atleast.
I am really confused between Samsung 26A450, Sony 26S400 and LG 26LH20, please help me out(also Samsung 26A450 is not available in market since long)

Panasonic just launched its new range of Viera LCD and plasma TVs in India (hence the new advertising campaign with Ranbir Kapoor). Does anybody have any details of the range, with specs and prices?

(keeping my fingers crossed for a full HD 42" plasma for less than Rs. 1,00,000)

bought a panasonic pv8d for 49k. is it a decent deal? should have it in a few days. wondering whether to put that in the living room and put the samsung 40" lcd in a room.

Dunno about Mumbai, but I have heard the PV8 go for as low as 44-45k at a lot of places.

Guys im in the market for a LCD/Plasma TV. Budget 50-55k. Mostly inclined towards Samsung . The TV is going to be for the Living room. I guess 32'' would be decent. But im not sure about the prices. Your suggestions are welcome.

you can get a samsung series 5 32" cheaper than 50k and a series 5 40" for around 60k. also 42" plasmas like the panasonic pv8d for less than 50k.

Thanks Akshay, I just found out 32" Samsung 5 series is around 46k or something. Whats your review on the Panasonic Pv8d?

Could be in Mumbai. In delhi, it is around 45-46K (last week). PV80 is perhaps discontinued.

Check out for IPL deals.

Question to other Panasonic PV8 (plasma) owners. Eventhough, I have set the aspect ratio as 16:9, I still see bands on top and bottom of the screen. Does this mean the DVD (player is Panasonic) movie is not recorded properly? Any one else get complete screen coverage with aspect ratio set to 16:9 (not 'Just' or others).
