If your Sony HT was one of those HTIB with built in dvd player it will mostly not have a single audio or video IN port and there is no solution to this.

Will check the Optical to Analog converter, but does anyone have any clue whether you can still get proper 5.1 output out of them? my guess would be, no.
Although I will take anything closer as a compromise for spending 40k and to dispose of my sparsely used HT system.
....

You could take a look at this: http://www.ebay.in/itm/Dolby-Digital...item20cec66668

Delhi price should be around 78K (+/- 5K)

Edit: No idea about gray market. Ask Khoj.

For the price, it is a good TV (as per the reviews, no first hand information).
It would be nice to check it out in person at a local store before you buy it online.

Guys I am thinking of buying this

LG 47 inch LED 5700 Series
http://www.flipkart.com/lg-47ls5700-...f-1364f975f7fa

I was drooling for Panasonic 50st50 but the price is out of my budget.

Gurus please tell me what you think of the LG TV that I mentioned above..

Price - I must get it for around 70k.

Also if someone can differentiate between 50ST50 and 50UT50...

Picture quality : not much difference in a dark room but in a brightly lit room ST performs much better
Wifi : ST has it built in, but for UT you need a wifi dongle
Neo plasma panel : ST has it, UT does not
Price : ST is pricey, UT is quite good VFM.

If you are buying for a brightly lit room, one which has windows through which a lot of sunlight comes or it has many lights, then go for ST. Otherwise go for UT.

Thanks, my living room is sufficiently lit. But I think UT will still be a better buy owing to its price. I think I am now inclining towards this plasma.

The UT is a great TV. I am also using it since August. You need to calibrate it properly though.

Hi. Even I have 42 inch ut. Can you please share the values of the various parameter you have set in your tv during calibration? Somehow even after calibration I am not so satisfied with the outcome. That's why. Thanks

Here are the settings.

Note - 16:9 overscan should be off for HD and on for SD.

Turn the lights off and enjoy HD channels.

That is a very highly rated TV. You should get it for less than 70K; more like the price shown at Flipkart.

But do note that LG TVs have no audio out other than an optical.
Do you have a home theater system that accepts optical or HDMI?
Else you better add a substantial amount to have good 5.1 audio.

I dare say a Sony with the X-Reality Pro engine would beat this one hollow!
