TV (and all modern electronics) need a high voltage protection device against power voltage surges. Most modern electronics have a wide range power supply so low voltage is rarely a problem.
I got my LG TV main board replaced today. Cost me 6805rs plus an earlier 280rs for the first visit to inspect.
After replacing the board, the guy tells me he was supposed to show me the diagnostic work book which picturizes the steps of diagnosis the technician is supposed to do to diagnose the fault. I was pretty peeved that he had not followed these steps earlier and is showing me now because there is a feedback form which I am supposed to say yes or no. He just shorted the power input to he main board and saw the back light coming on and said the board needs replacement.
A recent similar issue for a friend of mine with Sony was diagnosed at component level and only the Hdmi ports were changed costing him 600rs.
The amount included 920rs labor charge to replace the board, 5 min job.
This was the part number that was changed for me

I tried to get this board in the market both in Chennai as well as Malaysia but was not able to get it.

The TV or the stabilizer? |
Apologies for being unclear, I meant the stabiliser.
So you mean to say no need to buy a new stabiliser, just a surge protector will do?

That is correct; you do not need a voltage stabilizer.
A protector like this one will do:

Thanks .. good offer .. reviews are also very good for this particular series.
do share your experience on quality of screen and software after some days of use usage.
I've recently gifted myself SONY W800D 50" for 80K. I had to replace my 10y old 29" SAMSUNG CRT tv. Very happy with the PQ, I've added my old SONY 5.1 HT to it. It took the experience to other level.

I've seen 2 55" LeEco TVs. Both had considerable light leaks on 3 corners of the screen. A huge one at the bottom right corner. Was put of by the backlight leak. Liked how APKs can be installed in the TV.
Does anyone know if the
TCL 55" TV use an IPS LCD display? The viewing angle suggests it is. However, the website just mentions its an AUD LCD, and AUD turns out to the manufacturer and also listed it to be back lit LED with local dimming.
I am planning to buy
TCL (40 inches) Full HD LED TV in couple of days.
Does anyone have any prior experience with this company ?
Any review would be of great help. The amazon reviews seems to be pretty good except for the few complaining about the initial installation process.
