Re: Smartphone insurance, anyone? This is an old story, but worth mentioning considering the context.
I had preordered and bought the Nexus 4 from Google as it came out in late 2012.
Since the phone was new and the glass back was glamorous / conversation starter, I did not instantly get a case to protect the same.
Within a few days, I dropped the phone and cracked the glass back in early Jan 2013.
Also, I was to supposed to travel back to India in a few days.
Suddenly realized that I had bought the phone with a Discover credit card, and that card had electronic item purchase protection built in.
Applied for purchase protection with proof , and after a few weeks (my erstwhile roommate) received a check from Discover for an amount which pretty much covered the cost of repair.
So please check your card / financier benefits when you buy a phone - you just might be covered there too. |
