Folks, there seems to be a small problem with the iTunes software in my PC.
When i connect my iPod (80 GB classic) and try to sync it with iTunes, i get an error like 'iTunes is unable to recognize iPod. Please restore factory settings on iPod'

What could be the issue?
I have made NO software changes to my iPod, and my iTunes version is 7.5
But, i do have to add that iTunes has been flaky since the day I installed it.

Do let me know what could be done to fix this, as I do not want to reinstall the software in the iPod as that would mean losing ALL my songs.

Have you tried restoring your IPOD?
By restoring you will not loose your songs, but you will loose all data that you have put in the disk drive that comes up in my computer provided disk drive mode is enabled.

Restoring will actually format the ipod and reinstall the firmware that should take care of this issue, remember to do it only on the iTunes with which your ipod is synced(previously) to prevent loosing songs.

a) Even after charging the ipod via. USB on my laptop for over 6 hours. The ipod is completely discharged after watching video podcasts for about 2 hours or so. Even music, i cannot listen to it for more than 5-6 hours, what could be the problem? is it false advertisment or something wrong with my ipod?

b) Any other way of charging the IPOD? Currently, the only way i know is through my laptop USB. This is a hassle, any other alternate options?

c) The earplug device that it comes with just does not fit into my small ears, is some other ear phones like the one we use for mobiles available in market so i can buy? Any help on hyderabad based would be really appreciated
a) Ipod battery sucks. Thats normal for Ipod. I had my Ipod (got stolen by the way after 4 months).
Reduce the brightness of your screen, thats the best you can do.
b) You get chargers in the market. Some in national market.
