Bose Wave Music System - is it any good?

Hi Sam/Naveen and other audiophiles,

I am looking for a small music player for bed-room; and found this -

Bose Wave Music System (Platinum White) Reviews. Audio Shelf Systems Reviews by CNET.

This looks like a decent system to me, although a tad expensive. But I have been reading earlier posts here on Bose products, and it is very clear that you guys don't hold Bose in good esteem.

So please tell me your views on this system. And any alternatives.

Cheers

Nitin

For that amount of money, there are far better things to do in this world. Including some good audio systems which doesn't carry the name of Bose.

Wave is one of the few BOSE systems that is good. No comments about the price though.

For 25 grand it is certainly expensive. Its got some good reviews and if i remember rightly it does not have any treble or bass control in it.

Also its a single cd player. u get multiple cd players for lesser price from sony.

Get it if you want ppl to see it and say "wow, u have a BOSE" !! :-)

guys,
How about suggesting alternatives (with almost the same qualities as BOSE Wave). rather than plainly disqualifying it.

disclaimer: i am not much into music, let alone shopping for it.

For 25k, I would rather buy a full 5.1 sound system.
Or I would choose a custom designed music system by a great sound engineer.
I can also get an 80gb ipod with a JBL onstage.

These are just starters.
