Re: My iPad Air : How I ditched the laptop

Congratulations!

Did you consider MacBook 12-inch before purchase? It is a full function laptop built on the architecture of iPad. It is very light, compact, efficient and fan-less mother board make it silent.

The model claims to be 11” but it is 10.5” with screen size. The point is on screen size to use this iPad as a laptop replacement, which IMHO is personal choice.

Thanks for correcting on IPS display. The blacks are pitch black. It is an exceptional 120Hz display.

Hey,
I am looking for a sturdy cover for iPad Air 4. The best I can find on amazon is this one https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B08...KXAADYPH&psc=1. Any other leads on this?

Congratulations, for a person making the ecosystem shift I would suggest only the M1 MacBook Air. The laptop configuration of Mac makes the transition easier with full filesystem access not requiring any app, standard keyboard and trackpad (you will love this and this alone will make your transition worthwhile) considering your affinity towards PPT and XLS.

Also you won't be needing anymore accessories like iPad keyboard, cover etc which eventually brings it closer to MacBook cost.

If you are not into any coding, editing, designing or any other performance oriented tasks then the base 13 inch version of M1 MacBook Air is more than sufficient for the daily tasks you throw at it.

Pro Tip: For sure take the Apple Care+ plan along with whatever device you decide to purchase. Apple devices are workhorses but prone to expensive repair costs.

Good Luck!

That would depend on what you’re using it for, if its a casual use without going too deep into functionality, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse attached to the IPad Air would be sufficient along with a MS 365 subscription. If you’re looking at portability and touch screen functionality as well.

If usage is a lot then MB Air would be much better.

Thanks Darkkid.

You have the standard HDFC cashback offers with almost all the 'Apple Authorised' retailers in your state and city. Please check them here

https://indiaistore.com/new-offer/macbook-air

Alternatively if you are any university student and can get verified then you can take benefit of Apple's student/parent pricing which is lower than the retail pricing.

https://www.apple.com/in/shop/education-pricing

You can also check major online/offline retailers(Amazon, Croma, Reliance digital etc) for the same HDFC or any other card offers.

Reg Apple Care: You get 1 year warranty as standard and Apple Care+ increases it for 2 more years with accidental protection. Recently Apple started rolling out Care+ extension beyond 3rd year in select countries and hopefully India will also be part of future rollout of this program.

No idea of the current cost as I have purchased 3 yrs ago. Refer to https://www.apple.com/in/support/products/mac/
