Per month charges with dishwasher (rough calculations - not going for accuracy)
Cost of investment for the dishwasher ~ Rs. 250
Cost of consumables ~ Rs.350
Cost of electricity ~ Rs 300

So that comes to Rs. 900 per month. Now if you are going for an AMC, you need to add that cost also.

Plus, with maid, your mother doesn't have to first scrape stuff or even do the loading and unloading of the dishwasher.

Now, I am not saying that dishwasher isn't a useful thing, but rather saying that buying because a maid charges 1K per month doesn't make sense.

Ah but I never said we bought it because the maid charges 1K per month. We bought it inspite of that. The amount was mentioned only because thats what they charge. And no, with the maid - it is pretty much the same thing. She will not lift a hand in drying the dishes or stacking them up in their places. Its we who have to do the stacking with the dishwasher too. And moreover, we would have to keep the dirty dishes at some place - maybe the sink. Now all we do is put it into the dishwasher. And nope, even the maid wants the dishes to be scraped clean of all food before she washes.

Not nitpicking with your argument but just giving my point of view.

I am looking to buy Geyser specifically for kitchen. Can you pls. assist me rite size of capacity and most importantly BRAND?

I have short listed AO smith, any reviews about this brand would be very beneficial.

We have an AO Smith in our kitchen. It is a horizontally mounted, 50L model and is definitely better than the previous one that it replaced 3 odd years ago.

Since we are small family I was thinking of 3L capacity in my kitchen.

In our house we actually replaced two geysers with one and hence the large unit. It supplies to the kitchen as well as one of the bathrooms.

In a kitchen a 3 litre unit will suffice, I like the small ones which come with changeable front panels that can be chosen to match the decor.

Does AO smith has changeable front panels? I am planning to buy from Reliance digital, the price quoted is Rs 3,800

In our area, the maid charges Rs. 500 for utensils. She does not dry them, but we don't miss that service either.
To be honest, I felt we were paying more than we should for utensils, but after hearing figures of 1K, I am actually happy with our current situation.

What does the panel do & why does it need to be changeable? My heater doesn't have anything in the front or back.

It is just too match the colors of your wall or interiors.

It is a decorative front panel that can be matched to the colour of the walls in the room where it is installed. Just like one can change covers on their mobile devices.

I purchased an Elica 4 burner hob with MultiFlameControl and 5 gas jets in two burners yesterday. I wanted a 5 burner but wasn't available in Chennai. Am using it in cooktop configuration till I decide to do granite cutting. Also had an issue with one burner not auto igniting but figured it out that the spark generator head had been pushed in while packaging.
Will update in a few weeks how it performs.

How much did it cost?

We went to purchase one two weeks back. The sales guy told that he has to send a person home to measure the granite cut dimensions im order for us to choose the suitable model and that fellow hasnt turned up till today. :Frustrati I had told him the cut dimensions but still he insisted on sendig a guy home and that did not happen till date. Is faber suitable for indian cooking? I am specifically looking for tempered glass models black in colour and with either three(preferable) or four burners. My granite slab is cut 55cm wide. I will need a 60cm or 75cm hob at the most.

I kind of try to do things myself as much as possible, cannibalised my older stove for its legs and fitted them on this new one and got it working without calling their installation guys etc. Its not rocket science but I still prefer doing it myself.
If you visit their site, the cutting dimensions are clearly mentioned. I was first quoted 22k, called a number of dealers in Chennai/Bangalore and determined a fair price is 17.5k. I paid 17.8k to the guy nearest me, who was initially quoting me 22k. There is a guy on mission road in bangalore, who is giving this model for 17.5k.
Also one thing to note, the burner nearest the cook is kind of different from what we were used to earlier. I feel the flame is close to the cook as one stands barely 10 inches away. So you can consider the models where the burners are behind. I purchased this because of the Black anodized brass burners (aesthetically pleasing:)) and the 5 jets each, in two of the larger burners. My wife says it is cooking a lot faster than our older one. I checked Faber and found it very poor in terms of cleanability for a multi flame control model, as, if milk spilt into it, would be a nightmare to clean. This model is great in that it will prevent liquid spill into the burner nozzle area and even if it did spill, you can clean very easily. Strongly recommend Elica for this, but I dont know about their service...
