The issue was with the sensor, alhamdulillah. We renewed the warranty for one more year. The machine is running well even after 12 years. :D

What washing powder is recommended for top-loading LG washing machines?

We are using Surf+Tide mixed and last few months, it seems the washing quality has gone down substantially. The white shirts seem to come out 60-70% clean.
We did a tub clean and I manually cleaned the tub inside with a moist cloth.
Water levels are generally kept high and soap quantity is also decent, I suppose.

even in a top loader you need near zero foam. We have been on front loaders since 1980 or so where foam is lethal. We use the front loading version of Henko.

Sir, I have been using normal Henko for at least 5-6 years on my 16 year old IFB with no problems. I just make sure that I do not use too much detergent and not to generate too much foam. Would like to ask that why exactly foaming is bad for front loaders? Your insight will be valuable.

In a front loader washing action is totally by tumbling. So if there is foam then the splash action is damped out.

Got a nice plastic cover for my Bosch front loader 5.5 kg from Amazon India (link). Perfect fit, zips at the front corners and holes at the rear for routing the power cable, water inlet and discharge.

PS: No worries with the mounts at the front. There are no vibrations on the machine during the spin cycles. Had no other option unfortunately.

Is it ok to cover the machine completely? How will heat dissipate? I had one for my ifb but since then have changed three machines and never bought a cover for any.

I keep mine covered, but it lives outside and would become filthy otherwise. Also... the cat lives on top of it :)

LG recommends Arielmatic, at least LG says so, it comes in front loading and top loading variants.

Looking to buy a chimney to replace the exhaust fan at home. What are all the points I need to consider before buying a chimney. Expecting valuable advice as always. TIA

Only in Surf, I do see different packs available for top/front load. Else, most dish out just one variety. At least, this is what I recall seeing at Big Bazaar/Spencers. IIRC Ariel too has just one pack for both.

We use that also. Excellent product, but sometimes the availability is suspect. So keep two brands in your folio!

Couldn't find any specific instructions/warning w.r.t. not covering the appliance anywhere in the user manual of the Bosch machine I own so went ahead. We have a 15 year old IFB front loader doing duty at my hometown which is covered when not in use - no issues so far. *touchwood*

I covered the machine because it was located in the balcony open to the atmosphere. No direct sunlight but rainwater ingress.

Would a dishwasher make sense for me?

A good quality dishwasher would cost between 30-40k. I would end up paying the same amount to the maid over the next 3-4 years. Not to mention that it'd use some amount of electricity also.

Then there's the possibility that it might conk-off within the 3-5 years I try to break even with it. What exactly am I missing here?

PS: We are a family of two, going to be three by next year.
