Go for a laptop. A laptop in 20 -30k range will do that job for her. And gives freedom from power cuts for free

for portability and space constraints laptops are a great alternative.

But Desktops are still more powerful and efficient and customizable and easy to repair and cheaper to maintain.

A well configured dell laptop should go for about 37-38. A more powerful Dell Desktop will come to the same price.

Choose either of these:

Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop Details

Both are good enough for day-to-day Email / MS Office / Chat kind of usage.

And Dell has the best A.S.S. for retail customers so support should not be an issue when (not if) it becomes bogged down with all sorts of spyware and need backups + reformat.

I need a 17/19" TFT monitor. It would be used only for office purposes.

Which brand should I go for ? Viewsonic/Dell/Others ?

Dell or LG.

For Office use, your Primary need is stability and onsite support when things go wrong. Dell and LG both best network for support.

Cost would be 6 -7k.

samsung is a bit pricey, a little low on features but the monitors look good , and the panels are also nice.

AOC and Acer are cut price VFM options

Hi,

We usually hear 3rd time lucky.

It got reversed for me. After prompt assistance from Dell in the past (email the next day, phone call the day after the mail and technician here on the 6th for the first time, similar pattern with the replacement battery on the 7th day for the second time), I reported an overheating and machine switching off due to overheating on 27/06/2009 and a reply email with a long list of procedures to check (If I could do all these, I would have been better off as a computer technician) on 05/07/2009.

All good things have to end, I suppose. Among all the laptops in my shop, this has needed the most attention, though this is the only one which is tight out there in the open (the others are inside my office).

Anyway an extensive sucking / blowing) operation with my office vacuum cleaner has solved the overheating problem for now.

Oh! I got a polite 'Sorry for the late reply' when I pointed out that I was supposed to get the next business day attention!

heh, personally i dont have a single dell product. I prefer buying from people who can be held accountable for what they sell, and do so as much as possible.

Just recommended it because of the overwhelmingly positive reports I've heard about them from my friends

Depends upon the Features and response time too. 17" might have more features and better response time than 18.5". Can you specify the model numbers of both ?

Query:
Which is better buy ATI HD 4870 vs nVidia GTX 260 Core 216 ?

Resolution: 1400x900
Games: COD 4 / 5, Crysis, Sims 3, FUEL, DIRT etc (maxed out gfx settings)
