hey guys, one doubt here-
i am not too much into computer hardware, so please pardon my ignorance.

i am about to buy a new PC & budget is 40,000 max.

i am confused between these-

* graphic card-
- MSI 1 GB (Is MSI & nvidia the same?)
- Raedon 512 MB

* processor-
- AMD phenom 9650
- intel quad core Q8200
are the prices of both approximately same?

* monitor (19")-
- LG
- Samsung

motherboard is asus.

4) motherboard is asus.

1) MSI and Nvidia are not the same.
In short, nvidia is GPU ( Graphic Processor Unit ) and chipset manufacturer and MSI is computer hardware manufacturer.

Go for Raedon 4770, it is quite good if budget permits.

2) Intel Q8200 has problems regarding overheating. Had one for project completetion. Later on upgraded to Q8400, but same problem. If you wan too stick to socket 775, go for Q9XXX. But not Q8200 Q8400. I am speaking this from my personal experience. Q6600 is good quad and see if its still avialable or not. If its available, go for it rather than Q8200/Q8400.

AMD Phenom is not a bad option, but go for Black edition. They are better than 9650.
Try to get 9950. It will cost rs. 1500 more approx, but its worth it as it performs better than 9650.
You can also try to get Phenom II but they are slightly on expensive side.

3) Try Benq and dell too. Avoid Viewsonic at any cost.

4) Avoid Asus for RMA issues. Its not having good RMA. MSI and gigabyte have good RMA. If you can lay hands on Biostar, they are quite good too.

Try theitwares.com for getting the approximate prices. This will help a lot.

raj_5004 :

Monitor :

Go for ASUS/AOC. Dell sources the monitors from AOC/NEC and re-badges it.

ok i had this doubt since i saw both MSI & nvidia written on the pack!

Go for Raedon 4770, it is quite good if budget permits.

my budget for graphics card is around 8000-9000.

2) Intel Q8200 has problems regarding overheating. Had one for project completetion. Later on upgraded to Q8400, but same problem. If you wan too stick to socket 775, go for Q9XXX. thanks. i'll check out the Q6600.

will try to get the black edition if possible. also, i heard that the 9650 is not good, so lets see.

no viewsonic here! i think benq is more expensive.

ok, i will keep that in mind.

ASUS MBs are not having any RMA problem.Atleast here in Cochin. But MSI & Gigabyte are equally good.

Asus/AOC is more VFM and is in the same league of LG/Samsung. But make sure that you compare the specs before purchasing.

thanks mithun, regarding motherboards, i prefer ASUS as its plant is here in maharashtra & hence servicing becomes easy & quick.

my biggest confusion about the graphic card still remains! i have a budget of 8000-9000 & i am confused between MSI 1 GB & raedon 512 MB.

since i am more into gaming, i heard AMD processors are better than intel.

I'm not an expert in GFX cards. So no advice !

But I would recommend AMD processor when it comes to gaming.

As you are decided onto graphics card, I would recommned you Raedon HD 4770. This will cost you around Rs. 8k.
One thing I want to bring in is type of memory they utilize for graphics. Is it DDR2 for 1GB ? I think the 512 MB will be GDDR3 which is faster than th e1 GB version. Here you must also look into which memory.
Raedon HD4870 offers GDDR5, the reason why it is a very fast. Raedon HD48XX has one of the most efficient designs in graphics ( to the best of my knowledge ).

You can also have a look at 9800GT from Nvidia. It is no different from 8800GT. But this car is now VFM below Rs. 8.5k. You can get one with GDDR3 memory for Rs. 7.5-8K. Just inquire about it.

Finally for graphics card :
1) Radeon HD 4770.
2) nVidia 9800GT.

raj_5004-
At this point of time i would recomend Sapphire HD 4850 512mb ddr3 card which u"ll get for around Rs.9000-9300.Its the best VFM card at the moment and futuristic too.Why work fine for next 2.5 yrs or so.

As nvidia is coming out with new cards in september with direct x-11,their is no point in buying 200 series now.

If you want a 4850, buy the 4770. same performance, about the same cost, and lesser power consumption = no expensive PSU required
