Cant believe no one has mentioned foobar yet!

Foo with the kernel streaming and SSRC plugins was a revelation to me. I'm sure that it will be to a lot more

Audio - Foobar /QCD player
Video- Media player classic/VLC

iTunes for the ease of use and the amount of functionalities it has. Using and maintaining playlists are easier and more convenient than WMP. WMP should obviously work well in Windows coz its so tightly wound with the OS.

iTunes takes a few more seconds to startup. Blame that on windows. :-)

Use iTunes on an Apple box. Its a dream to use.

Before iTunes it was Sonique and Winamp.

I mentioned it in my earlier post. and i so totally agree with you. Its really great specially with all those different skins you can find on neowin.

foobar and skins

why do people want their music players to look good so badly.

the reason why i like foobar is because of the previously mentioned plugins , i can listen to music with far better fidelity than your run of the mill media player. And for a music player , shouldnt it be the thing it should do best, ie play music...

skins , i really dont care.

Winamp is simply the best for audio, light and simple.
Tried upsampling from 44.1 to 48KHz in foobar...but then discovered that my onboard audio already runs at 48KHz (it's Intel 946GZ with onboard HD audio) and is capable of going upto 24bit/ 96Khz. Hence, I've got the SQ of Foobar combined with good looks of winamp.
And VLC or WMP for vids.
Also, I like Musicmatch for converting cassettes to mp3.

VLC Media player. It will play just about everything you can throw at it. Light on resources too.

iTunes for me. The functionality it offers suits my needs perfectly. I initially used it only for syncing my iPod, but it grew on me with time.

I agree. It's simplicity is great but itunes has certain limitations that get irritating. Xase in point - When I am using iTunes and connect my bluetooth headphones to my lappy to listen to music, I cannot hear anything in my headset, but I use any other media player - it works flawlessly !!

Is there a way to work around this ?

iTunes is perfect fit for me for Audios.
Video, I use VLC only. It literally plays anything you drop in...
