I use WMP(default install) in my PDA and Winamp on laptop.

Winamp for Audio and Windows media player for video.. I use vlc player when DVD is played coz there is no support for DVD in my Media player..I searched the net but no use , i dint get the codec..

Foobar with ASIO plugin. Windows Media Player / VLC Media player for movies.

Its VLC.

Default player is real and if it fails (even if all) its VLC. Dont ask me why the best is not the default player

WMP for me since it supports both audio & video, though I must say Winamp was the simplest & best for me previously

foobar FTW! I use foobar with Media player classic for videos.

VLC very rarely if needed.

audio - real player(best sound)
video - without a doubt VLC player . plays every video format

Tried upsampling from 44.1 to 48KHz in foobar...but then discovered that my onboard audio already runs at 48KHz (it's Intel 946GZ with onboard HD audio) and is capable of going upto 24bit/ 96Khz.
That is exactly why you want foobar to resample to 48k

the ssrc resampler for foobar is light years ahead of any onboard sound, even better than audigys

Itunes is really simple looking and yet is very user friendly.
But you might have to have separate computer to run

Foobar2000 for audio, and VLC for video.
