I do find the abbreviations and the many standards to be utterly confusing.
Worse... they have defeated me.

I have .mp4 video snips taken on my phone.

I have EditStudio 4.1 and I have Windows Movie Maker --- neither recognise .mp4.

I've tried a few conversion combinations in SUPER, but have not found one that gives me both video and sound when imported into Edit Studio or Movie Maker.

Help?

You have 2 options:

1. Convert MP4 files to AVI or anything that Windows Movie Maker can work with.
2. Install "codecs" so that Windows Movie Maker can consume MP4 directly.

Approach #2 can mess up configuration of Video/Audio in System.
Approach #1 would be one time affair of learning VLC command line, you can then write a command that will convert bunch of mp4 to AVI.

For installing Codecs, install this (K-Lite Codec Pack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) or similar pack.

It will install drivers so that Media player , Mvie Maker and other programs will play/read MP4 and bunch of other Audio/Video files natively.

I'm sure that SUPER would give me the option of approach #1 --- I'm sure it will, it is just a case of finding the right things to enter!

eg I put AVI for output video container; what do I put for output video codec and output audio codec?

Any ideas\pointers?
Any software available for that?
I use a small freeware called AudioVideo_to_Exe - can be downloaded from Download Audio/Video To Exe. Allows one to convert different types of audio and video files to another format - *.3gp *.vob, *.wmv, *.XVid, *.flv, *.avi are some.

Hi Proxima,

Just download Nero 7 Ultra Edition (the best version & burning software) I've used. It converts avi format to DVD format automatically.

Hope this helps.

Issue with Recording - Canon Camcorder

I'm posting this on behalf of my friend. Posting below the issue on his behalf.
--
I bought the canon FS200 Camcorder from US which is in NTSC, along with an 8GB SD card. I have an issue while burning it to a Movie DVD.
Using Nero 6, while trying to add the captured file (MPEG format), I have been getting a message something like not in correct format.
If anyone had faced similar kind of issue or any alternate options available for burning it to a DVD, it would be very helpful.

Mods, If any other thread exists for related issue, request you to please merge this with the existing one.

Thanks in advance..

Try a software like DVDflick(its free and open source)
This software takes video file in any format and creates an ISO for you which can be burned to a DVD.
All you need to do is double click on the ISO, and Nero 6 will take care of the rest

DVD file joining & converting for mobile use.

I just copied a movie from a dvd on to my computer and would like to copy it to the handset as well.

Now the problem is that the movie is divided into 3 files with .vbs extention.

Can i somehow connect the three files and make it into a single contineous one? If so how and what softwares would be needed.

And do i need to convert the file to a particular type to play it on a Nokia.

Thanks in advance.
