Are you using an iPhone specific data plan? I use VMC (Vodafone Mobile Connect). I called Vodafone to check if there was an issue from their end to which they said no and were trying to sell me the iPhone specific plan which is a rip off in my opinion.
My feeling is that this issue might be operator and area specific. |
TataDocomo doesn't have an iPhone specific plan. I lose the E completely, no "E" to be seen. Not operator and area specific.
Seems to be something software related.

I haven't installed SBSettings yet, do you think I should try that too? |
SBSettings is just a shortcut to doing it from the menus. Since you have already done that, i dont think it will help you in anyway by installing SBSettings. On second thoughts, it might help you - because there is a respring option on SBSettings, which does some kind of a cleanup of the OS. I dont know exactly what, but some problems do get solved with this option.
Is it possible to use your phone with a friends's SIM card (or a relative's one) to check if it is specific to iPhone or your service provider?
Also try to switch off CELLULAR data and switch on Airplane mode, and leave it for about a minute before reverting them back to their original settings. Am just trying to simulate enough delay that a reboot of the phone would have caused.
Guys,
Anyone of you recently unlocked your iphone 4 using GEVEY Turbo SIM? Can you please post any issues here after unlocking? It will be helpful for guys like me who are in double minds whether to still keep waiting for genuine software unlock or go ahead with GEVEY turbo SIM method.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!!

@tanwaramit IMO you cant restore/downgrade the default iOS once you purchase the phone and even if you downgrade the iOS the baseband is not down-gradable. I am also waiting patiently for the unlock solution for my iphone 4. My phone is running on baseband 3.10.1. Only unlock solution as of now is GEVEY Turbo SIM Card. I dont know how reliable that would be. At any given point software unlock is always better than these cheap chinese type solutions like "GEVEY". May be some other guys in the forum can provide us information on the reliability factor of this GEVEY SIM. What i heard is once you unlock using GEVEY you will have lot of network issues - Not sure how far its true?
BTW which baseband is your phone running? |
my iphone 4 with 4.3 OS is running on baseband 4.10.1, it seems I have a long way to wait before I can get some OS to crack.
Meanwhile will try to get gevey sim to crack it.
+1 to lazybrain's question, if anyone has done the crack using gevey sim ?
iOS 4.3.2 to be released in next two weeks. I'd say its better to wait some more time for the unlock. Most probably unlock for iPhone 4 is taking heck a lot of time for the developers. The best bet is to wait.

The unlock is dependent on the OS version and not on whether its iPhone 3GS or 4. The news about 4.3.2 is true though.
Guys just got my factory unlocked iphone 4. How do I view its OS?

iP4 when its time for the iP5 release. Airtel should stop Apple making India the dumpyard.
Anyways, updated to 4.3.1 and there is a considerable difference in battery. Need to wait for some more days to come to an conclusion.

A clear indication that iP5 will be launched soon thereafter lol:. But Airtel have been making these claims for quite some time now. Earlier it was Airtel and Vodafone, now its Aircel and Airtel. The only positive to come out of this is that iP4 becomes legal in India and existing users will be covered by Apple's worldwide warranty. Also, expect grey market prices to drop.
