Sure thing buddy, I gave my phone to the apple service center today. |
Did they provide you with any loaner phone? I just checked that my phone is also eligible for the power switch replacement. But I am worried that during the time taken by them to repair/replace the phone, I can't use my nano sim in any other phone.
I have been using iPhone 5s from Feb 2014 and facing signal issue in both mobile and WiFi.
I am not sure whether it's a problem in handset or the signals itself.
Airtel Signal in Chennai is very weak in most of the areas and the same applies to my Airtel Free WiFi modem.
Only my apple devices iPhone 4, 5s & iPad 4 suffer with this signal issues.
Nokia 720, which my wife is using, never faces this issue. It's very weird that the technically advanced brand has this kind of issues.
If anyone knows a way to fix this issue, will be beneficial to me.
I thought of replacing my WiFi modem ASAP.

I asked for the loaner phone, but was told that the policy doesnt apply in India, so I purchased SIM adapter by paying 100/- and using S3 for now. I was told that by Wednesday I should get back my phone.
Doesn't iPhone 5 support 4G? I thought it did but airtel tells me it doesn't. They say that only 5C and 5S support 4G. Is this correct?
Does anybody know of an app to monitor data (usage by individual apps) over Wi-Fi (not cellular)?

iPhone 5 had 4G. I am not sure if the version sold in India is any different.

I believe the iPhone 5 does support 4G. Can you check this setting on your phone?
Settings -> Mobile -> Enable 4G

It does but Airtel is allowing 4G/LTE on only a handful of selected devices. Airtel allows LTE only on iPhone 5C, 5S and Galaxy S5. Maybe they added a few more which I am not sure of.

The 5 most definitely supports 4G. Out of the country I have seen 4G many times on my phone.

iPhone 5 definitely have 4G/LTE but the in India 4G/LTE band is different and iPhone 5 doesnt supports that band. The newer models 5C and 5S handsets have these band for which Airtel is licensee.
I own a 5c and facing these issues lately,
1. Wifi settings gets vanished. I need to add it to use it.
2. When turning on 3G, within 5-10 minutes, the battery % goes down by 5 points. Usage would be just whatsapp and no other app would be allowed to. I have to charge my phone ever night due to this.
3. In nights, the touch screen behaves abnormally. I swipe in one area but options/gestures work from some other area. In the mornings the touch would work as normal.
Is some one else facing any of these issues?

Is this while connected to a charger?
I used to face this issue when I connected my G-Nex to a higher rated charger. Output voltage higher than what was recommended for the phone. Took a while to realize it was the charger.

No. BTW, I use the original Apple charger. I presume(I may be wrong!!!) that this issue occurs whenever I use my phone with oily hands. Because whenever this issue happens the screen used to be a bit hazy. And I haven't sticked any screen guards.
My iPhone 5c screen got damaged yesterday. Called Apple service center to find out that my 9-month old iPhone cannot be serviced (replaced) here since i bought it from outside India. It would have cost Rs.25000/- for replacement if it was purchased from India. Then called iservices.com, they quoted 12500/- for original screen replacement and 10000/- for other premium branded screen. I, then get to a local Apple repair shop (third-party) he quoted 6500/- for original screen replacement with 1-year warranty. Asked me to come day after tomorrow, since screen was out of stock. It's a 30-min job as per him. Let's see how it goes.
Guys,
Tri NaviMaps on your iPhone. It's brilliant. Seems to be the best mobile navigation application till date. In app purchases are just around 500 for a life time navigation. Bought it just now. Looks much better and refined than sygic.
