The iPhone Thread
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadgets-computers-software/38465-iphone-thread-685.html)
Is it still a good decision to get the iPhone 5S in spite of it being around for almost 4+ years now?
I understand that iOS 11 will be the last update the phone will get but as a secondary phone, it should suffice.
Please pour in your advice.

I think you should go in for the SE. The processor on the SE is 2 generations ahead. Also the camera is a 12mp sensor same as the 6s. Though the form factor and screen are the same as the 5s I think it would last you for a longer time compared to a 5s. There are good deals going on and you should be able to get the 32gb version for 20-21k. Even for a secondary phone 16gb is too low I would recommend the 32gb. If you don't wish to spend 20k on a secondary phone better go in for an Android like a moto G5 rather than going for a 4 year old iphone. Just ny thoughts.

As mentioned by a fellow bhpian above, even I would strongly recommend you the SE at least 32 GB version.
I am currently using the 5S as well as the SE.
To be honest, 5S is getting slower day by day and I think in the next six months it may become super slow, although I do not store photos, videos or lot of apps in it.
SE on the other hand is fairly new (although more than a year old in the market) but still runs a lot better. I think for a matter for few thousand rupees, stay away from 5S as it is outdated and go for the SE, eyes closed.
If 20-21 K sounds too much, as mentioned by ToyotaFan, android is the way to go.

Believe me, it has to be the SE ! Literally it is 6S minus the bigger display and 3D touch. You'll hugely miss the
Rise to Wake feature and the better camera that the SE offers. On top of that is the A9 processor and the 2GB RAM which again is mouth-watering. And with it is the better software support from Apple. Just go for the SE blindly if budget isn't a constraint.
Cheers,
Vijay

This is why I stay away from Indiegogo. Kickstarter is a lot more legit comparatively. Plus the one I got was from an established company, not a first-timer.
Have funded 7 campaigns on KS, including this $220 watch ( http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4240076), and have never lost a penny, touchwood.
But 3-4 month delay is common with the campaigns. How many months past due date is this? |
Its already 5+ months :Frustrati I asked for refund. This is what i got as reply:

Thank you for your message and we fully understand your refund request. However, we hope you understand projects on Indiegogo are works-in-progress and therefore some unexpected events may hinder the delivery of a finished product. As a contributor you are taking part in creating something new, not just a customer paying for a developed product. Also a large part of the funds have been put into production. Our profit margin is very thin and it is spared to be used when some unforeseen problems appear. That does not mean your request is ignored. Instead you are very important to us. That is why we have been transparent about our current situation and proactively resolving problems. We can and will be very willing to fulfill your refund request if our budget allows us to do so. Please allow some time for us to check it. Thank you for your understanding.

Meanwhile their Indiegogo account is still active & kicking:

Available at Apple Stores for 35000/-. Not sure of online purchase but it should be a few thousands cheaper if available on Amazon.
Thanks very much Parwath and Abhinav.
Amazon and Paytm have nice deals on the iPhones during the ongoing I-day sale.
Paytm: iPhone SE 32 GB listed for 22990/- but you get two cashback offers (18% flat cash back or Rs 3000/- cash back + Rs 9000 Buyback guarantee + Additional cash back vouchers worth Rs 5000 on flight, apparels, and mobile accessories)
Amazon: iPhone SE 32 GB for Rs 19999/- plus there is an exchange offer for select models.
@
Pancham I orderd this case
Celkase from amazon instead of the Spigen:
Amazon has cashback offer of upto 1500 on SBI cards.
Or 10x rewards points via HDFC cards. This option gives upto 2400 via rewards points.

This looks good too. Mine came with a INR 300 cash back.
The tempered glass for 7+ works good, but in 7, most tempered I have tried start to have bubbles. I believe it is because of the [slight] curvy nature of the screen on edges. Any tempered glass recommendation? How would this be?
