The price you mention, is it MRP? I am buying it from SP road.

EDIT: Would be grateful if you could suggest a 2.1 speaker within 1-1.3k too

Re: Need Advice on "Graphic Card"

Yup the cards I recommended will work on that board.

Also in 1.3k, just get the basic altec lansing 2.1.

Graphic Card Help

Dear Friends,

I purchased my laptop exactly a year ago and am getting excellent results from the same.
I'm not a very gaming person but recently I got my hands on this Huge strategy game. (A 17GB heavy game). Got it installed after a lot of hard-work and when the magic started my laptop just shut down in just 4 mins of starting the game. It got superheated and shut itself automatically.

I guess its because I don't have a dedicated Graphics card.

These are my Specifications:
1) Make: Dell INSPIRON N5010
2) OS : Windows 7 Professional
3) Processor: Intel CORE i5 M460 @ 2.53Ghz
4) Memory: 4 GB RAM
5) Onboard Intel HD Graphics

My question is can I "now" install a graphics card on my Laptop?

If yes, then I can do with a simple graphics card and I don't need a GOD-level card as my life usually revolves around Microsoft Excel

Also, which ones would you recommend and approx cost of the same.

Re: Graphic Card Help

At least need to consider thermal envelop of the body before you install
the card. Its possible that the laptop may not be designed for such a thermal performance. Do check that aspect, before investing in the graphics card.

Most laptops that come with inbuilt graphics do not have provisions for adding a graphics cards since space for the same is at a premium. If you have gotten bitten by the gaming bug then you are better off with a dedicated gaming laptop or preferably a desktop which you can incrementally build over the years starting with a humongous modular power supply unit and a case with two huge fans one at the bottom front and the other at top backside..
If you are into casual gaming a change of laptop would suffice one with a dedicated Radeon Graphics card.

AMD Radeon

Re: Need Advice on "Graphic Card"

I want to add a basic graphic card, 3D capable with support for OpenGL 3.0 or above, for simple 3D modelling work, no gaming. This is for an old desktop PC which has integrated Intel graphics for which driver support has ended in 2015. Motherboard has slot for PCI express 1x and 2x. I just need a very basic 3D card with 1gb RAM. Suggestions are welcome.
