The earlier laptop was bought for about 55k, and I paid about 7k later for extended warranty. The laptop I have got now has a market value of about 51k, is better looking with a slightly smaller form factor. Apart from this it has an additional 150GB hard disk space.

I am yet to return the old laptop, will do that as soon as I get confirmation regarding transfer of the 3 year extended onsite warranty to this laptop, applicable from 1st April '09.

Edit: when I purchased my original Lenovo, it was perhaps the most expensive in the range. And even now, this was the most expensive Lenovo, so not many options existed to choose from.

The earlier laptop had a dedicated nvidia graphics card as well, though it might have been a slower version.

But yes, this laptop has a black body, whereas the earlier had a dirty silver that faded to black on the touchpad. Apart from this is has a nice sexy red front (which Lenovo claims is scratch-proof)

I've a query on lenovo laptops. Need to buy a laptop for self use. Mainly internet and office work. have the following notebook in mind.

Lenovo G550 - 295862Q

· Intel® Core™ Duo T4200 ( 2.00GHz 800MHz 1MB )

· PC DOS 2000 License

· 15.6 " WXGA LED Backlight TFT 1366x768

· Intel Integrated Graphics X4500
· 2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz

· 250GB 5400

· DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)

Price - Rs 28350.00 (getting a canon printer free as well).

I am really not sure how good is a core 2 duo vis a vis dual core? Should this configuration be good enough ? and what about the quality and reliabilty issues? Dont really want to spend money and then get stuck with issues with after sales support.

Since we are in a lemon lonovo thread, my only fear is that lenovo laptops in general dont belong to the same category. I have read about the robustness of Lenovo think pad series, but is the G series sufficiently reliable?

Same blue screen here too

I use a Lenovo Thinkcentre desktop in the office.

One fine day when I booted it in the morning, it came up with the blue screen with exactly the same error message. (NMI : Parity Check / Memory Parity Error)

Any idea which component is faulty ? Is it the RAM ? The RAM was upgraded in this desktop a long time back (more than 6 months) and it worked properly after the upgrade.

Had called a person from Lenono Tech Support. He ran the diagnostics and could not find any problem. The desktop is working properly after that.

To be safe, I took a backup of all my data in the hard drive. But had to waste half a day doing the same.

Its not a cause of major concern to me because its an office computer and we have a dedicated group for computer maintenance.

Still would like to know which component is caused this error.
