Sony has announced the launch of their latest console the PS3 at E3. It is 20x times faster than a PS2 and 2x times faster than the xbox360. ittl cost around $300 and will be available in spring 2006. How many of youll are gonna buy one cos i really want to

ha ha u right. i think i wont get anything for the ps1 atleast. might as well give it away to someone as a stepping stone to ps2-3

Am sure to buy two PS3. But only if they come with the modded chip as buying the orignal cds is out of question because of the high rates and only if their price comes down.. its good that they have the option of 20GB and 60GB as the 8mb space on the memory card of the PS2 was insuffient.Lets see the reviews of the games aborad once its launched.

The initial price of the PS3 might go as high as 700 $. THe same thing happened with XBOX 360 also when it was launched.

firstly khanak that was last year E3 at this years E3 on May 8th the PS3 was officially released with all its details.
1. The PS3 will not have a boomerang shaped controller but will have a controller which looks same like the PS2 controller the changes will be that the controller will be wireless and with Motion Tracking technology and will not have dual shock
2.They will be available in 2 configurations:- One with a 60GB HD. And the other with a 20GB hard drive. Japan's date: Nov. 11. In Japan 59,800 Yen. The 60GB PS3 will have an open price which retailers will set. In North America: 20GB for $499, 60GB for $599. Europe has 20GB for 499 Euro, 60GB for 599 Euro. 2 million to ship worldwide during the launch window. 4 million by end of calendar year 2006. By March 31, 2007 they'll have shipped 6 million worldwide.
3.PS3 features and benefits: Powered by Cell. CD, DVD, Blu-Ray disc. Bluetooth, WiFi, ethernet. Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Legacy SD to full HD support (1080p). wireless controller, up to seven player, pre-installed HDD. USB, Memory Stick, SD, Compact Flash. gigabit ethernet cord, removable hard drive.

You are correct Sujay, I have attached the systems specs for both the systems available at Circuitcity. I will be picking up the 20GB one when am in Atlanta in Jan, hopefully the prices come down & they still have the after christmas sales going on

There are 3 major factors that makes me wanna buy the Ps3 over the Ps2.

1. Faster Processing speed
2. Anti Aliasing - which means no more jagged edges.
3. Blu Ray - DVD games that can hold loads of info leading to better sharper graphics and far more superior detailing.

PS3 has been finally launched in Japan today. It's prices start from about $425 for 20gb model.

Sony could only ship 100,000 units. Because of the blue ray diode developed some problems which also caused the delay.

The thingy was completely sold out by afternoon according to some sources.

Hey..as per the AV Expo recently at Taj Lands End,Bandra..the people at the Sony PS2 stall there told me Sony India will launch the PS3 here in Feb 2007..
Also - I'll surely get my hand on one of these when I'll go to States in March..hopefully the prices will reduce by then..
Will also get to know whether Nintendo Wii is better than PS3 by that time..
