I have seen an Nokia C7 with turn by turn navigator feature, but it is a non-android phone and is way too expensive. Guys please suggest.

Here's a comparison of 4 phones under 15K on Flipkart. My money is on sony ericsson live:

Also checked out the Lumia 800 – This is one great looking phone with great build quality but I wonder whether Windows 7 will be accepted by the crowd or not. I did not find the interface to be that intuitive.

I have been using HTC HD7 for a year now; it had WP7 earlier and now runs Mango since Sept.

Let me tell you, I find the Windows Tile-concept to be the best GUI currently. It is just so refreshing from the mundane format that Android and even iOS has.

With Mango, WP has improved leaps and bounds; right from having Marketplace for India to fixing a lot of shortcomings that WP 7 had.

I am so impressed by the whole WP experience, I don't care two hoots about Android now.

I currently use a Nokia E71 and am keen on replacing it with a new phone that has a similar keyboard. Touch screen option would be an added benefit. Typical choices include the E6, HTC Cha Cha Cha and the BB Curve/Bold. Not keen on Nokia again and BB don't look VFM at all. Can't convince myself to buy the HTC

Is there any other Android phone that I can evaluate? Can wait for a few months if required. But having Qwerty and Android are must-haves. Don't want the landscape slider qwerty option either.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Adi

To be frank, it's a perception thing. I find it too yuppie vis-a-vis a BB. With the FB button et al. You see what I am saying?

Feature-set is no doubt good. No issues on that front.

The button is configurable and can do as you please. The phone is FAST and is a joy to use/hold. HTC sense is beautiful.

What else do you want boss??

aside from the FB button, what is the thorn in the side?

Saar, You are very convincing. Shall go look it up soon. Any other phone on the horizon? Don't want to buy it just because of the TINA factor either. Seriously wonder why nobody offers a well specced Android in the Bb kind form type.

I have a HTC Touch-Viva which needs a battery replacement. It does not seem to be available at the official service centers (may arrive in a week).

So my question is: are there any other batteries that can be fitted in the phone? If yes, where do I get them in Bangalore.

I agree. Before the Mango (WP 7.5) update, I was waiting to complete 1 year contract and move to iPhone, but now all that changed. I will keep my HD7, and if I upgrade sometime later, that surely will be another WP.

I also thought the same. I entered smartphones with two Sammy's Epic 4G and Galaxy I5510. Following a malfunction on the 4G I got an htc (Verizon) Dinc2 since this was offered as a replacement for the Epic. Now I am a convert. All my doubts about htc being locked (S-Off) etc have since vanished. Sense interface beats everything. Look at XDA and you will get all fixes!

A hard constraint for me is the physical qwerty keyboard a la BB. Hence all typical full screen touch options are out for me, though I agree a lot of them are pretty cool!

On Windows Mango, is there any free app that I can use to send SMSs?

My current Airtel corporate connection allows me just 150 free SMSs per month.

Boss, there are SMS packs one can subscribe to. Don't they allow add-on packs?

Did you check in the marketplace? A search on 'Free SMS' gave out a few results. I have not tried any of those because I have around 500 SMS free in my plan, and then there is Whatsapp as well :)
