If you do a search, the spec's of the Canvas 4 are a replica of the Galaxy S4.

It is nowhere near S4 in terms of specs.

1. CPU : Mediatek quad-core MT6589 (Instead of Exynos 5410 in S4)
2. RAM : 1 GB (Instead of 2 GB in S4)

Its CPU is Cortex A7, S4's CPU is Cortex 15.

There are otehr differences too (E.g. : Imaging Sensor, Screen resoluition) but those should not impact users as much.

I am deciding on a smartphone for Rs. 15000 (hard limit - can't be stretched even by a rupee). One choice is Lumia620 about which I have posted on the Windows Phone Thread. My 2nd choice is a HTC Android - what's the best HTC Android I can get for up to 15000.

My priorities are
1) Call Quality (should be as good as a Nokia)
2) Call Quality
3) Call Quality
4) Battery Life
5) Stability of the OS
6) Phone should be atleast as rugged as a Nokia.
7) Company's Exchange Email - should be smooth and easy - as good as it is in a Lumia
8) Banking apps like ICICI i-safe should run smooth.

I am not into gaming.
I don't care about the camera.
I don't care for most other apps.

So with only 3 unchangeable parameters (HTC, Android and 15000 hard limit) what HTC model do people recommend and why?

I am a happy Nexus 4 user. My philosophy is this: Android as an OS is underwhelming for low to mid end phone users and is good only for the high end phones. Especially for your priorities as listed by you, I would seriously suggest you go for the Lumia range. Even Lumia 520 should be enough for you -the phone UI is fast, slick, gets all the basic smart phone functions done fast, and you will still save Rs 5k!

carboy,

15k HTCs are a piece of crap which lag like crazy over time. I have a 12k HTC chacha from last may. I would seriously say this - either the 17k samsung galaxy quattro OR S3 level stuff or chinese. branded stuff gets you laggy not as good stuff IMHO.

Have anyone purchased Note 2 in samsung estore. Using this exchange offer Samsung note 2 is coming for 27500. Planning to replace my HTC HD2 (with android ROM), not sure if my phone will be accepted.

Hey thanks for poiting it out. Thought of exchanging my NOTE 1.

The terms and conditions are pretty strict in that regard and may not accept the phone due to a different rom on it. So there goes your chance of a refund. And once gone, the phone wont be returned. :(

The exchange offer is also valid in offline stores such as Samsung smartphone cafes and Sangeeta. If you wanna be doubly sure of getting the exchange offer, do it offline.

You can always revert to stock. Check the threads on XDA.

Cheers!!!

Is there a list of phones which are accepted in the exchange offer?

I went to the offline store to exchange a year old curve 8520 with note 2. The shop owner told me, that all I need is to have a smartphone which have a minimum 3k resale value and yeah, also you need to get the charger along too.

Yes I am talking about this model only. This is available at flipkart; don't know if it is really discontinued or salesperson is giving wrong info. You may also consider Sony Xperia Sola and Samsung Galaxy Advance. HTC desire is also good and phone specs are same as in One V except that Desire is dual sim phone

Got a HTC Desire X from flipkart - came to around 14.5K.
Disabled 3G, setup Exchange sync etc. Phone seems fine for now.

OK so this is how it works. Samsung is giving dealers 7 thousand rupees off on the price. The rest three thousand comes from the phone that you are going to exchange. If the phone dealer thinks your phone is worth 3k's used, he will take it else he won't. My friend owns a mobile shop and this information comes from him.
