I would recommend that you wait a couple of weeks as Redmi Note 4 successor, Redmi Note 5 (Redmi 5 Plus in China) is widely expected to be released sometime in the first half of February. That would most likely have better battery life and software, with slightly inferior cameras. Since you have not mentioned camera as primary requirement, I guess that this should not impact your decision. However if camera is high up your priority list, go for Honor 7x.
Folks, any thoughts on Honor View 10. Seems like a good offering at the price point: 29,999.
Pros:
Android Oreo OS by default
Bezel-less Display Design
Dual SIM, Dual LTE
128 GB Memory/6GB ROM
AI Processor
3750 maH Battery
Cons:
Non Snapdragon Kirin Processor
No Image Stabilization
Currently Amazon is offering a No Cost EMI scheme as well for it. Usage would be mainly for calls, I use both Airtel and Jio SIMs and Whatsapp messaging and Camera. Camera should not be bad - I am not expecting anything phenomenal like an iPhone (on par with a Moto G5 Plus would do...)
Have a friend who’s coming down from the US. Asked him to get an unlocked iPhone X, is there any restriction on doing so ?? (He’s already carrying two phones). Also any specific model no. that I need to be looking for incase of any network issues here ?? (I use Airtel).
Thanks in advance.

The phones purchased from the Apple Store are unlocked and free to use on any carrier.
I recently procured an iPhone 8 plus by purchasing it online, using my CC and putting my sister's name as person coming to pickup the phone.
She put the phone in her purse and the box and accessories in her bag.:D
Ask him to do something similar to avoid bag getting selected for inspection/x-ray.
Looking for advice on a budget android which works well in USA.
My current phone is a Moto G5 Plus and I always struggle with internet and poor mobile signals there. Apparently the network bands are diff in India and US. Due to this, My phone internet works on 2G speeds at best, that too is not up to mark. I do have the option of buying in US but that is some thing i don;t want to do for various reason.
looking for budget option under 20K Max (Less the better), which works normally in both markets. Usage will be regular calls, Outlook, Whats app and browsing & a minimum 5.5" screen is preferred. Appreciate if anyone can help.
What's a better app for OBD in a Toyota?

My dad has one, since the launch.
Beautiful, big phone with less bezels.
He is a heavy user - videos, gaming, tethering, shopping, uber etc...
He is very happy with it.
Aircel Deceased! Number permanently lost?
Implications?
Pretty bad: with mobile "linking" needed for everything, can now no longer shop, pay bills, access services I haven't thought of yet (tax?) etc etc. And there is one detail that I can't change online while online banking: the mobile number.

Why haven't you thought of retaining the same number by
porting to a service provider of your choice? The number is important, not the company :).
The procedure is to get a porting code, right? You get this from your existing company. Aircel is no longer an exisiting company. No signal. Kaput.
Would love to be wrong!

This is the procedure. But you would have got notification from Aircel to port to another provider within a given date. Did that not occur in your case? I was with Reliance Communications which shut shop in October. The court (?) or TRAI (?) had instructed Reliance to support all Port out request until December to help merge with any provider of choice of the customer. Nothing with Aircel on those lines occurred? There should be a way of getting the port out number. Try speaking to AirTel or Vodafone stores near you to see how you can retain the number but get their network.

Seems to be a technical issue as per the news. I doubt if they can vanish like this.

Heard the same just this minute. Hoping it is true. I would think their days are numbered, though.
They
could just vanish if all their infrastructure providers pulled the plug. And when I last looked, their website is just 404-ing, albeit in Aircel-coloured text. That's
some "network issue" they've got.
Hoping, but not smelling nice stuff here.

Here's what Aircel have to say on this:
Quote:
Aircel, the smallest private mobile operator in India, has warned its 5,000-plus employees to brace for “difficult” times amid “serious funding issues” in the face of intense competition.
“We have had no funding for some time and have been dependent on cash generation from our current business operations,” chief executive officer Kaizad Heerjee said in an email to employees earlier this week.
The Maxis-owned telco’s operations have been severely hurt by intense competition in a sector that has been a drag on the revenue and profitability of even the top operators.
“As competition remains intense in a hugely financial stressed market, we too are being impacted… The company expects things to get even more difficult in coming days,” said Heerjee.
