What is the point in having HDMI sockets in modular switch line up? I mean, is it possible to have a player / source in one room and play the media in a different room through HDMI?

I can figure out use of rca and audio jacks here. (feed speakers at defferent parts of a room). But HDMI?

Reason for asking - renovating house, including electrical rev wiring, so b trying to integrate HT / media.

Also, since flooring will be ripped up, is it ok to run cables below the floor ok ground floor? i guess I'll just leave the conduits now and install the sockets once the system is put up.

Any tips and points to consider?

Ethernet is a very fexible protocol and allows piggy backing of several protocols including hdmi, AV, USB etc.

Using Ethernet powerline adapters you can use the existing copper electric wiring inside your home to create an ethernet home network.

I use that to connect my desktop and office laptop to my broadband connection. You can use it further to connect your hdmi, AV devices in different parts of the room.

Powerline adapters plug into regular 3 pin sockets.

I assume you are talking about this (ref image). IMHO installing comm port outlets like RJ11/45, coax RF etc. along with switches is purely a waste of money and effort. The switches will last 10-25 years, let us say these ports too will last just like them. Point is, unlike the switches and 3-pin sockets the communication protocol (read technology) will go obsolete during this lifespan, making your room something like a museum.

My house (built in 2008/9) has all these thingies, except HDMI. Cut to 2020s, landline is not there, ethernet is not there, cable TV is optical fiber. All the ports are now adhering IEEE DAAM (dust attraction and accumulation magnets) rl:

1) You are good with any decent 7.2 Amp
Unless you have near future changes in view, the Dolby 5.1.2 spec will suffice for the distance you are at. (Less is more logic here, you are quite close to all speakers.)

2) Tackling the room acoustics, a bit.
yes. please avoid covering all sides with foam.
- Absorb around corners of rooms + diffuse around speakers (especially rear).
- Absorb behind the front speakers.
- Keep subwoofer out of the cabinet.
- Rugs on the Floor.

This shall be more than sufficient considering the dimensions.
You would need the room to reflect, damping it all is totally detrimental.

Just be careful - there have been some internal industry notifications issued against a few websites - vplak was one of them. basically warranty will be voice for any product bought from them few from day 1. It also included amazon, flipkart and some others.

Rumored cases heard of some of these selling repaired units.
For highend audio Companies having offline presence first and then having online footprint anyday should instill better faith.

Anyone using JVC NZ3 laser projector? I am considering upgrade to 4k from my 6 year old Sony FHD lamp based projector. I know this is not native 4k, but can produce 8 million pixels. I believe that is good enough for human eyes from a viewing distance of 17 feet.
BenQ W1800 was evaluated, but didn't feel like a real upgrade.
Screen will be 150 inches diagonal in a dedicated (12 x 20 feet) room.

Finally the KEF Q150 replaces my trusty old Edifier R2000DB. There is a very pronounced improvement in the top end - especially detail retrieval and clarity. The mids too sound warm and open. It really adds a sense of 'realism' to the sound with it's impressive soundstaging, the speakers themselves disappearing in the sound field, compared to the Edifiers which sound like two distinct speakers.

I had auditioned the KEF Q siblings at ProFX and was blown away by the clarity of the Q150. But once they arrived home and I set them up with the amp, it sounded very different from when I auditioned them. I'm not a believer of break in, but these do break in wonderfully in the first two days. I suppose the thiele parameters do change as KEF themselves say - in the first few hours of operation, the fundamental frequency drops and the compliance of the spider (which is resin treated) improves. For most speakers the effect is negligible, but in case of the KEFs it's very pronounced.

Any recommendation for cost effective seating for a home theater room? Need to have 4 seats (1+1+1+1 or 2+2 preferred). I am looking at around 30-40k (can stretch slightly if it offers that much more value).

Have looked at few manual recliners, but whatever comes in the above range feel either not comfy or not durable. Any place in Bangalore where I can explore traditional movie hall type seating?

Another constraint is that the door width is only about 28 inches. So should be small enough take inside or something that can be assembled at site.

Any BHPians using or have experienced Apple's Homepods? Both, the mini and regular? How are they?

I got myself a Sonos Arc yesterday, reviews here also helped me in narrowing down on my choice.

I have a set of Apple Mini's (never used older version of HomePod) which I bought right when they were launched. I think September 2021.

For their size, the sound quality is brilliant and works like a charm. I use them almost daily (SONOS is too loud for morning rituals :D) for my morning ritual music when getting ready or generally doing the morning chores.

Congratulations. Did you just get the ARC or the whole set? What's the price for it in India?

I'm getting tempted to compliment my SONOS HT with the newly launched ERA 300. It would be an overkill as the present set-up is just surreal and heavenly.

It leaves all our guests dumb-founded with the music quality (especially since they are completely wireless).:)

I got it in Stockholm, Sweden for 9979 SEK. I just went for the Arc now, will be adding Era 100s next and later a sub mini.

Sounds decent with the Arc alone, definitely missing out on the base because of not having a subwoofer.

Have one HomePod and one HomePod Mini. love the sound of the the regular one. the the cost the Mini is not bad, the depth of base is missing (in comparison) but if you you live in the apple universe its a good buy. pPanning to get a new Homepod once the home minister agrees :)
