Phone restarts on it's own.
Clicking on the camera app shuts down the phone and it doesn't start.
Fully charged battery doesn't stay for more than 3 hours.
While the battery percentage shows around 35%, it refuses to connect to the mobile network. And when connected to a power source, phone switches off and shows charging from 1%.
Mobile connection drops every few seconds. 3G interent doesn't work for more a few mins.

Uff. That was a mouthful.

Wow, quite a bit of problems. Did you download the update in one go on a steady connection? Try and see of you can update using the toolkit.

Is this "US GSM Version" or "International GSM Version" of Moto G? Both are available in US.

H provides higher speeds, but requires HSPA+ frequencies that might be different in India.

This is also possible.

Mine is an International GSM version.

But I guess the issue was with the location. Today I did a speed test from my office and I got different and better speeds.

I read on XDA and it seems Moto G users are all getting on 3G. Even in the YouTube videos I saw all were always on 3G.

Regards,

Yeah. I even factory reset the phone 2 times. It goes to 4.4.2 and the problem persists. Planning to downgrade to 4.3 soon.

Congratulations on getting a Nexus 5. Such a beautiful machine.

On Wi-Fi: Has this been done to reduce battery consumption by Wi-Fi?
Settings->Wi-Fi->Advanced->Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep (choose Never). This prevents the mobile from scanning for an available Wi-Fi all the time.

My apologies if you have already done this on the Nexus 5. I get outstanding battery life. Thanks.

Sorry, but this option is not for scanning for WiFi, there are other options for that under the same 'Advanced' options. Google services like Google+, NYT & FB are all big consumers of data during sleep, so called background processing. Be warned that Keeping the 'Never option', switches these to mobile data, after about 15 odd minutes. It hardly increased my battery life, but my data consumption shot through the roof, when G+ decided to backup my trip photos, and NYT & FB went berserk updating content every 6 hours, all when my WiFi was off, during sleep.

I use Battery Doctor and a quick analysis shows GPS as being by far the biggest battery drain. I have 'Moves' turned on, and they recommend using the 2nd option 'Battery saving' for Location accuracy, ie without GPS. You will find the option in Location setting under 'Location Mode'.

Like others have mentioned, flash using tool kit. If it does not work out then take it to service center . They will be able to solve it. Its just a software problem. Mostly updating the firmware through toolkit will solve your issue. Give it a shot

I have a Sprint htc One, rooted, running on Android 4.3 Of late I have two occasional problems - 1. the wallpaper changes to default overnight, and 2. they keyboard is automatically set to Swype! Any ideas.

I am on Nexus 4 and using 4.4.2 for over two weeks. I haven't faced any of these problems. So you may need to contact service centre before deciding to downgrade to 4.3. In my experience 4.3 is more resource hungry than 4.4.2.

Came across a site offering moto g 16 GB for Rs 15707. (It shows up in google ads when you search). Since cash on delivery was offered, decided to try it, since I have not heard of the site before. But, they want 50% advance, so dropped the idea.

They were offering the global gsm version, with US warranty.

Should I go ahead and buy?

Which sure are we talking about? I would be a little wary to buy a smartphone from an unknown site, especially if it offers at an unusually low price!

I don't think 15707 is unusually low for a phone retailing at $199. IMHO, the right price would be 12.5 to 14 k in INR to cover duties and freight

Reason I dropped out is they asked half payment after claiming cod.

The site is hopshop drop or something. Popped up in google ads.

I wouldn't have minded the premium coz my pop aka mini is creaky.

Got my wife a Nexus 5, must say its incredibly fast !! Super fan, now how I wish I give up my iPhone5 to another Nexus :)

Hello friends,

I have bought my first android phone, could anybody give me a list of good
games and some useful apps.

Is there anything like spotlight search on iOS in android to search within the tab? Google now frequently goes around searching the whole web.

It all depends on whether you want to root the phone or not! Assuming your don't want to root, then you may install whatsapp, mint financial, cymera (camera app), vlc player, fb, temple run 1 & 2, and subway run. Again games depend on the specs of your phone. By the way, rooting is similar to jail-breaking of iPhones.
