I am considering the HTC U11 @52k. Quite a package especially the camera and audio aspect and I need a phone that packs a stellar audio experience.
Let's wait and see what offers we get in coming days. In the mean time One Plus 5 will be out as well but that ditto copy of Iphone 7 plus is a slight put off. |
I was quite interested as well until I saw the 'Jerryrigseverything' video testing the phone. It bent quite easily under his test. I am sure we don't go around doing it in our daily lives but to know that it is sturdy helps in peace of mind. It massively undercuts the S8 in price while offering similar specs.
I am still waiting for a month or two after its release. I will be real angry if they drop the price by 10K like LG did with their G6 a few months post launch.
It is an impressive phone, no doubt. But the HTC 10 was one as well and we all know how well that one sold :)

Yeah i saw that video. Not that durable for sure especially compared to HTC 10 but that's alright. I can definitely live with it.
I don't know what's up with LG but the G6 price has been dropping like crazy. I've been tracking that phone and was interested in it primarily because of its impressive screen-to-body ratio but I think I'm going to give it a pass.
I am also holding off my purchase of the U11 and just waiting to get a good Bank offer or something once it lists on Amazon and made available in offline stores.
HTC has never done numbers really, but even the HTC 10 was a great phone. I am not expecting the U11 to do great numbers but it doesn't matter if the phone is good and suits my needs. I'll be waiting to check it in person and hopefully it should reach Croma and likes by next week or so.
Sapphire Black is my pick :)
I have been an htc lover for over a decade, but now have switched one phone to the Samsung S8. After meddling with the 'lower' brands for over two years, now I am reminded why a Premium label is just that. Quality shows everywhere.

+1 to that. Premiumness shows. I have used just one HTC so far. Back in 2013. It was the M7. Got a good taste of premium there. Had switched over from iPhone. Used the M7 for two years. Except for the camera, it was great in everything it did. The Desire series at that time were highly un-desirable really. Am not a fan of the latest ones either.
I am at the "meddling with the lower brands" stage currently :p . Owning my first and last Lenovo. Looking forward to buy the V20. I'm a sucker for Audio. If there are budget constraints I would also consider the V5 Plus just for it's audio credentials. Would love the 3T instead but not sure about how robust audio quality it has.
@pixantz; Remember Audio volume on an htc has traditionally been on the lower side. Not exactly a boom box!

But they were the one's to start stereo speakers on mobile phones. Most of their phones are stereo speakers. :thumbs up Lately, Lenovo also has these on most of their mobile offerings.

Oneplus 5 has over 150,000 pre-orders already in China

And they are advertising heavily in India as well.

For a stellar audio performance why not take a look at the LGv20 or the G6? Them QuadDACs pack a punch playing 24bit FLACs :D

Chucked the conservative approach and went for Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.
S8 plus is actually a compact phone, doesn't feel like a 6.2". My HTC Desire 816 with 5.5" screen is too bulky when compared to S8 plus.
The camera is simply awesome especially its performance in even extremely low light conditions.
Will post updated and detailed review after using the phone for some time. |
Clicked few pics of the phone and its packaging. Nearly 10 days since I got this phone and I am still amazed by this amazing device. It is a very beautiful phone without any doubt. Battery is holding up easily for 24 hours under moderate usage. Camera is excellent, call quality even amazing.
Ordered Clear View Flip Cover from Samsung India website yesterday, hope to get it early coming week.

I don't think the G6 has the quad DAC. It is not advertised in Amazon like they do for the V20. Also they have different version of mobile for different countries. USA gets wireless charging while we don't, etc.

HTC fan here, used 3 models of HTC, Tytn II -> Desire S -> Butterfly.
Wanted to upgrade to HTC 10, but felt it was overpriced, so switched to Moto X Style.
HTC makes quality phones with great build quality & superb user experience, but offlate their pricing is on a higher side & market has plenty of options at a lesser price!

HTC used to make decent spec phones and we're always overpriced. And they all ended up having one big gremlin on each model. I think after the One8, their design team became stagnant and started lagging behind in innovation and freshness as compared to the others. The prices typically drop sharply post 8-10 months or earlier.
Sleekness was lost. The bezels are still fat and awkward and space above and below the screen is way too uninspiring. They look like toys to me these days after looking at the stuff others are coming up with. Similar to how Sony is so painstakingly boxy and square. The 10 is a breath of fresh air though.
Today Vivo is where HTC should have been. Vivo is also overpriced, but not anywhere close to HTC. At least with the models released here. They have solid build quality and reliability and perform pretty good. Vivo seems more justified once you get to experience them.

It does have it. One of the first things i checked out in store when it came out :)
I have the v20. And pairing it with a high impedance headphone is just bliss.
Used to carry a lot of HTCs in the windows mobile era. think i used most of their models. In android it was the original m that caught my eye.
nice phones.

Thank you for your suggestion; sorry if I've went against you, I just ordered Z2+ 64 GB for SD 820, 64 GB & quick charging. 13 MP is decent for me though & I think this phone has best VFM & hence ordered.
Thank you for your suggestions & patience with me :thumbs up
