But if you want to jump on the Android bandwagon, its a different matter.

There are some non-functional and implied requirements like performance and quick response which anyone would expect from a smartphone, and those older Symbians fail miserably in meeting those. I'd say avoid that Symbian and go for Android.

Oh well in that case it would be WLAN data too, secondly if it's a pre-paid you are always safe since you can't exceed the limit of the credit that's on your card.

My provider charges 2ps/100kb beyond allotted limit.

Guess that depends from provider to provider, I still got the 10ps/10kb on Airtel.

My LG P500 currently runs on official 2.3.3 GB ROM. I'm thinking on the lines of flashing a custom ROM.

Any suggestions?

I found a really nice application for Android and sharing the same.

App: iOnRoad

Experience dynamic augmented reality driving and real-time collision detection
iOnRoad delivers a visual radar by combining realtime day/night machine vision with sensor fusion. iOnRoad then calculates the time gap and collision potential with other vehicles and warns of high risk events.

Did this one work for you ? I have tried this since yesterday and not got a single warning :D - either I am a very safe driver or this app doesn't work as advertised !

For all those android users who are feeling left out with SIRI, here's SPEAKTOIT for you. Download it from market and be amazed :D

Speaktoit - Your Personal Assistant

My Defy is still at 66% battery after 18hours of use.

Thanks govigov. :thumbs up

How is the camera clarity? I had used VOID ROM which is based on CM7 and camera just sucks on it. :Frustrati

Any links from where I can download the ROM you specified?

visit xda developers site. you get all the ROMs.

Flashed a modified hboot from Alpharev thereby increasing my internal storage space from 147 mb to 287 mb! I can now move a lot more apps from sd-ext to internal storage. The phone has now 287 internal and 512 mb in sd-ext for apps!

How to flash an hboot?
Enter fastboot mode in phone, connect the phone to PC, and give the command "fastboot flash hboot <hbootimgfile.img>"

I did go through the xda forum. It seems to me that there are many custom ROMS. I'm finding it hard to select one. *sigh*

govigov, would you please let me know which version you're using? Basically, I want to flash a ROM which is stable, has working GPS, good battery life, a good camera clarity. :)

Camera does have some issues. Not so great even though there are lot of options. Using a third party app is preferred. 6.5.8 is what I'm running. All the rest of things are just great. Will send you a pm with some links once I'm on a pc.

I am on mik_os's CM 7.1.0 ( Android version 2.3.7)

[UNOFFICIAL][ROM][stable:6.5.8,testing:6.6.1] CyanogenMod 7.1.0 (Android 2.3.7) - xda-developers

You should be able to see this on the page.
Latest stable release:

I don't use the camera much and so I find it manageable. FM doesn't work on this ROM and I am yet to search for a fix.
