If I raise my budget to 30 odd K, what would you pick now:
1. Samsung Galaxy Nexus
2. HTC One X
3. Samsung Galaxy S 3
4. Motorola Razr Maxx
5. Motorola Razr XT
6. iPhone 4S |
I would suggest you to buy Galaxy Note. I bought Note yesterday for 31k, and I am really happy that I bought this. You will be happy face the moment you look at the big screen. After one day of use it self, I find all other phone screens too small (earlier they look to be bigger).
I am glad you like it but I am looking for something Phone size like the regular S3 rather than note. I am sure Note is brilliant but I just don't feel comfortable with a phone that size.

S3 is a brilliant phone, the best in the world right now.
But you'll have to raise your budget a bit. I dont think it is available for less than 37k.

Id suggest wait for the next Nexus phone and maybe the iPhone 5 too. Its really advantageous to buy Nexus series as the updates come to these phones first and the wait for updates from Samsung and other manufacturers is really frustrating.
If you buy S3 now maybe you will get the Jelly bean update this year but when new Android releases next year, the wait for an update will get really tiring. S3 is really a great phone and i especially love the white color one, but after my experience with Note i feel its best to get the Nexus series.
The iPhone 5 may also be S3 killer but lets see when it comes out. Only a few months left.

Also, does the Atrix 2 really have a TFT screen in this Amoled generation? |
Thats why it was priced at 23K. If the device has an AMOLED screen at that price range, you can typically hope for 512MB and lower specced processor speeds. Thats what I saw, when I was hunting.
As you rightly pointed out, it all depends on whats your priority. I was OK with the TFT (Its called a qHD screen). But with ICS both the cores get used well. And more importantly I get 1GB RAM at that price (which was always more important)
So if you need a GB RAM, AMOLED 4.3 inch, higher specced CPU, you would have to shell some where in the range starting 30/32K. I was not OK with that budget. For my requirements Atrix-2 works like a charm.
However if you can get the new Google Nexus from US, its the best.
(~21K in Google play). Sad its not available in India.

How much is the available internal memory in Defy XT ? |
Lesser than +, but good enough for me.

How do you like the Motorola UI as compared to that of Samsung ?
|
I find the Samsung UI to be better looking but i love defy's smaller screen retaining similar resolution but better pixel density.
I am a normal user, i do not really care what version of android phone uses, just need a smart phone to stay connected to web and calls, XT works just fine. I am not very enthusiastic about phones, i find spending 40k on a phone waste of money.

- XT has an additional front camera
- XT has a different UI
- XT is slimmer and better looking minus the cheap looking rivets
- XT has lesser internal memory but same processor and RAM
Defy is a IP67 certified device, meaning it is water, dust and scratch proof. Defy + and XT do not come with dual core processor, just a single core 1Ghz with 512mb ram.

Lol, I guess so. However, the current price they are asking is too high. Not sure if its worth the price now. Heck, you could buy a full sized physical PC keyboard for that price! Also, there are other keyboards similar to Swiftkey that have v good reviews... like A I Keyboard. Wonder how they compare. Tempted to try them out...

They have seriously lost the plot - completely agree.
Instead I think they should cut the price to like $1.5-2 and it will fly!! I mean, there are so many of us who bought it at $0.1 :p
btw, look at the drop in their installs - they should stop smelling the roses and cut price NOW!!
btw AI keyboard costs 4 rs more!!
Is LG Optimus 2X a good buy for 14600/- for my college going daughter? The deal looks tempting. Would you guys suggest any other sub 15000/- phone over 2X? Pls reply asap.
I have Optimus One. When I bought it, it had Android 2.2.2. So I rooted my phone. After using it for sometime could not understand much on rooting so decided to unroot. I did it by updating my phone to Gingerbread. But since updating the battery backup has reduced. So I will take it to service center so that they can reinstall the older firmware i.e. 2.2.2 I want to ask that whether reverting back to older firmware will also bring back the rooting that I did. Sorry sounding noob but please help me.

No, it won't. You'll have to do the rooting process again after the firmware flashing :thumbs up
Guys! Any suggestions for an android phone for around 20,000 bucks??
Need a good display & at least one day battery life.

Hey, you calling my rivets
cheap-looking? rl:
Actually, I think they are security screws. I just looked through a 10* glass.
Very OT, please move to another thread if it exists.
The plan was to buy the latest iphone and an Apple mac Book Air. Never experienced either but thought compatibility would be better since both are Apple products.
Now that i have decided to go ahead with an Android phone (Motorola Atrix 2 or HTC One V - Still undecided), I can't help but wonder if the Macbook is still a good idea. is it still the best laptop out there? Or it makes sense to go ahead with a Windows Laptop? I heard Google has Chromium laptops that work better with Android.

Please keep us informed of your SGS2, seems this sale is picking up and there are more people getting to know about it everyday. My personal experience with HS18 has been a favorable one till now but playing a volume game is a different thing altogether. |
Just for the record, the SGS2 was delivered this morning. That was a full 10 days from the date of ordering !!
