HCL Sakshat Tablet @ Rs. 1500 ? Is it possible?

Just read in today's Hindustantimes that HCL is going to launch an Android based tablet named Sakshat, at just Rs. 1500 ! Has anyone got more info on this?

@ 1500 I really wonder what hardware specs it touts...

I doubt if it is pegged at Rs.1500 with some 50% or more government subsidy?

Indeed it is Rs. 1500 Tablet design and developed by HCL, IIT Mumbai and Institute of Science. Lets wait for it and I will sure buy 2.

Hey nice thread. I have googled and found many sites giving information on this but to my surprise none of HCL's official announcements. Any idea of expected date for online booking?
Called up one of HCL dealer but he didn't had any clue on it (or was it that he wasn't interested?).

What happened to the tablet? Launching Indian made products has become mis-managed mess (notion ink and now this).

I'm waiting to buy two of these to be used as headrest monitors streaming videos (like thin clients on airplane Video On Demand screens) from the main CarPC library.

With the hardware costing only Rs.1500, I highly doubt whether it has the horsepower to be used as a main CarPC. Moreover, there aren't any Android based frontend available yet to be safely used in a car environment.
