thanks,

one more Q, are there specific models that are autotran, like zipplus or something for santro....or it's optional in all models.

I have never enquired about this option in cars, so am totally ignorant about it.

Yes the corolla definately comes with a auto-box, infact they were offereing the older model (the new one comes with a face lift) at quite a good discount this december...

The auto box normally comes as a separate model, which adds on top of the (generally) top-end model.

Santro Xing AT is Santro Xing X0 + auto
Honda city CVT is Honda city Gxi + auto
and so on ... for Optra, Octy etc..

dont know if maruti is still selling any of its auto-box options now ...

Havn't heard too many good things about the Invex and its 4 speed auto 'box. But the tip-tronic does seem tempting. None of the other cars i put on the list offer a tip-tronic option, right?

Dippy, i didnt add the Accord since vivek only wanted to look at C/c+ segment. But thats what i would have if i had to have an auto.

to know whether its good or not, I will suggest you forget the honda, toyota mindset and take a test drive with an open mind.

Rip the car in the test drive as much as you can. overdrive or autocar has mentioned that this car is faster than the automatic corolla in automatic mode.

It certainly is not as good as the invecs III about to come in the new mitsubishi cars but then they will be even more expensive. Lancer invecs is cheaper than the corolla by a wide margin.

I own a Santo Xing AT, very good for city driving. OTR price was 4.85L in July 2003, and FE is 9/14 on city/hwy. Low resale value compared to manual cars of similar age/milage because of lower FE. That is kind of lame because one should buy this car for it's 4 speed auto transmission, not FE. Therefore, we decided not to sell this car at all.
