I intend to buy one of these: Zen Estillo Vxi, WagonR Vxi, Santro XO. I would appreciate to get info from actual owners:

1) Ride and Handling
2) Gear shift quality
3) A/C effectiveness
4) NVH levels
5) ***
6) FE
7) Best dealer in Mumbai

Are these in order of priority? If so, then Santro it is.

Regarding the dealer, ingeneral Hyundai dealerships are quite decent. Someone from Mumbai could recommend.

I would suggest the Santro XO, if ur planning on keeping it over a long period. Quite a tried and tested car, and the owners would definitely vouch for it too. Currently there is an offer for free insurance on the Santro, so plz do check it out.

Regarding the other points u have mentioned, plz visit the following link :

Even if they are not in sequential order, i too would suggest a Santro ( a happy ex-santro zipplus owner for 4 years) with my eyes closed.

Though XO which i think is high-end version is not really worth its money, go for one step down.

Once u have decided on the Santro, the link i posted above is useful, which actually comapres the XL and XO versions of the 2.

I think additional 25K+ for XO is not really justifiable as some of the features of XO can be bargained as done by somebody here. you just need to be a good negotiater.

go for the Santro and select the XO model with eyes closed. You need power windows all 4, later u realises how useful it is, also rear wiper and defroster comes handy and u get all this along with body coloured bumpers for an extra 25k

Santro XO is good choice, it gives great peppy drive compared to Estilo and wagonR.

Only -ve about Santro is its bad bumpy ride, oh man I just hate it. Its even worst when I was undergone sirgery

I hope Huyndai works out its ride in upcoming facelift if any.

I don't recomand WagonR for its look and bad gearbox, not a highway car.

Estilo is not good because its something strange design and no comfortable at all according to many.

Regards,

Ravi.

I own a Santro XL for last 1+ year and no issues so far (13000KMs). A.S.S is also pretty good.

XO and XL - XO is always good! but one of the options is to save that 30K and invest on a better ICE setup!

Coming soon new Getz Prime might be good choice for you. In 2 weeks it should be here.

If you look from economy side Maruti cars make sense!
But Maruti cars lack in quality, fit and finish, interior space comapred with its competition so on..

Swift is first car that Maruti has developed it better. New ZEN is quiet good too better than wagonR. If maruti build Upcoming Baleno well then I will appreciate Maruti for sure.

I am sure in couple of years people will realize in India one must shop car keeping safety and luxury/comfort in mind rather than going for economy.

Regards,

Ravi.

I have a Santro XP for the last 2+ years. Great car in its class.

PROS: Good Gear shifting, decent aircon, decent FE, very good A*s*S. Dealer is Pheonix Hyundai.

CONS: Bad ride quality over bumpy roads, cornering at high speeds is not advisable.

I evaluated the old Zen and Wagon R before purchasing this, Quality of plastics and overall build are far better in Santro as compared to Maruti. FE is not as good as Maruti. Old Zen had the best ride and was the fastest too.

Overall, I would advise you to hold off on your purchase since the Santro prices are expected to come down in 3-6 months. However, if thats not an option, buy the Santro. Its a nice car.

1) Ride and Handling: WagonR
2) Gear shift quality: Santro
3) A/C effectiveness: All equal
4) NVH levels: Santro
5) A.S.S.: WagonR/Estilo (Though Hyundai is now nearly as good as Maruti)
6) FE: WagonR/Estilo
7) Best dealer in Mumbai (dont know.. ask a Bombay bhpian)

Hope that helps..

Thanks

Thanks guys. As Ravibhat suggested, I am going to wait for few weeks more as Getz PRIME with 1.1L will be launched. I have decided not to go for WagonR/Zen as gear shift is very poor comapred to Santro. I am not worried about back seat discomfort on a bumpy road as most of the time(85%) I am the only person in the car. The only thing I miss in Santro is tachometer. Is there a possibility to fit IP with taco? Is it possible/advisable to go for tubeless tires for Santro?
