I am offerred a cash discount of 80k on Sonata embera and insurance ~49k free for first year in bangalore by advaith hyundai. Had taken the test drive and was impressed by its space and comfort. Pretty nice engine though it surely had turbo lag till 1.9-2k rpm. Not decided if I want the car or wait and save for the new skoda superb.

Mar-2008 AutoCar says Rs.16000/- cash discount AND 4% of loan amount as discount for Safari.

Variant, dealer and loan agency not mentioned. But the number is probably a good indicator.

Also, any idea if Safaris have any corporate discounts ? Most of the hatch, sedan cars have some sort of a corporate discount, but I was told by one Tata dealer that their M/SUVs don't have corporate discount.

is the 4% cash back on loans worth it ?

When the finance company promises a 4% cash back on your loan, they normally charge a higher interest rate..

You may be better off negotiating a lower interest rate rather than go for the 4% cash back...

e.g. I was offered a 14% int. rate with a 4% cash back, or a lower rate of interest...

HI Guys,

I would suggest that we all need to go in for the lower rate of Interest than finance payout. Why is the question which I am answering below.

If you buy a car on Finance they would charge you 13.5 to 14%. Now they give you 4% off as a payout in the finance deal. What happens here is that the first year you have paid 10% rate of interest (14 - 4 payout) but for the remaining 4 yrs you are paying 14% per year. This mean a total of 66% in 5 yrs.

I was offered either a lower rate of interest or the payout. I chose the lower rate of interest. Hence HDFC offered me 10.5% p.a. which totals out to 52.5% total. Hence this is nothing but a straight saving of 13% in 5 yrs or 13% on your loan amount.

So as far as the calculations purpose

Loan Taken - 500000
With Payout - =4% of 500000 is 20000
Without Payout = 13 % of 500000 is 65000

Now you decide which is better for us.

Innova G4, V - 30k discount for normal purchase, 45k for special corporate (through GE money and 2 others) + minor accessories, 8% discount on all accesories
This is after minor bargaining. This may increase little with more bargaining I guess but there seem to be quite a bit of interest for the Innova.
Will update after booking
