Santro and Matiz are both from the same generation. When they both were launched in the late 90s the Matiz was priced almost 25% more than the Santro. Ride quality-wise Matiz was miles ahead of Santro. The only area where Santro was better, was in the than engine power. IMO going for a Santro is almost a downgrade and since you say your sister is going to keep the car for 8 yrs the more younger i10 is a far better choice.
