even if whatever people are saying... that it has a cab feel to it...

but seriously speaking...
a car can only be used as a cab.. if it has comfort and space in it...

so definitely... it must be having both...
and that too for such a good price...

before thinking about santro/i10... I was also looking forward to a xeta...

well anybody with real experience can you really clarify the problems with xeta

Decide yourself, if you really like Indica then go it

Else get a Santro or Spark

Hi Sriswe,

I own an Indica DLG(diesel) 2005 model. I dont know about the petrol Indica's but mine has not given me any problem till date except for a few punctures(common to any car) and the starter being serviced once. Apart from the above, the only irritating problem i have faced is with the front power windows. It keeps going conk every month or 2 in case i drive it on bad roads. Its the fault of a single plastic component which goes bust and the local car electrician charges 50 bucks to replace it or in case its not broken, to fit it back into place. The annoying thing is this plastic part(god knows what it is called) is not readily available.

But on the whole, 41,000 kms has been a walk in the park with very few niggles. I have heard people say, if its petrol then go for Maruti and if its diesel then think about Tata. I have heard horror stories on other forums about the Indica Petrol as well as people singing praises about it. So make your choice based on your preference. If you prefer space, comfort go for the Indica. If you feel you can compromise on space then you have a world of choices- Alto, Santro, i10, Spark etc

Keep us posted of your decision
Abhi

At the risk of sounding like a petrol Indica salesman:

My odo reads 86750 km today. This week I did a Chennai - Bangalore - Chennai run; wanted to check how much the old girl would do - touched 145 kph briefly and then dropped to cruising at 120 kph because I'm on tubed tyres on OEM wheels.

I've posted this bit earlier but to repeat:
I had problems with the A/C compressor and the alternator. I had problems with the silencer twice. Some of the dashboard, steering wheel, window winders are starting to fade.
I'm still on the OEM clutch and suspension. The engine and gearbox have not been touched. I changed the headlamps to the Indigo clear lens type recently. You can see the car here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/763113-post261.html the Indica in front of Blue Thunder's Gypsy.

Is it true that petrol cars from TATA aren't really good?

I have the XETA GLG and the CS GLS in mind.

I thought TATA ranked second, after Maruti, with regard to After Sales Service.

Hyundai is much better A.S.S. than TATA IMHO.

@bluepulsar - i think neither the Spark nor the Santro provides the same comfort as a Xeta.

@garygar, apart from the Taxi feel, i dont think the Alto, Santro or the Spark provides him with the space, comfort that he is looking for.

Try chevvy spark.
i own a Spark.
I am very happy with it. There are no costs of service, parts & labour for 3yrs, so cost of maintenance is zero. looks cute, comes at very great pricing, its fun to drive because of peppy engine & seat 5 people easily but space is less compared to Indica but its Built Quality is Far better than TATA's

Adding Icing on cake are Its Tubeless Tyres which aren't present in other cars in its class.
But there are few things that can you need to look.

1) Its controls are non standard.
Like console is in center like the New Indica & Nano. and the position of turn lever & windshield wiper liver are interchanged.

2) Relatively Less number of Service statons compared to Tata & maruti but service you get is Very good.

it comes with price tag of 2.89L ex showroom

hi all,
thanks for the replies. I have visited both Tata and Maruthi showrooms. At first sight, XETA seems to be the choice. In almost all features ( except Mileage ), XETA leads compared to Alto. I have checked the LPG version also. The boot in LPG is quite good. Is LPG a good option to consider with respect to maintenance? How much will be price hike for LPG(more than petrol/diesel or less) if any? Request the BHP-ians to help me out.
