since you have a 6 lakh budget you can go for the fully loaded top end variant of any of the diesel hatches and also the Indigo CS.

if you plan to sell it early (1-2 yrs) why dont you try for a used Swift D? it wouldnt lose much value even when you sell it in future as a 2nd user.

I think you can select between Ford Ikon TDCi or Swift D. Another choice for you would be the Palio D

IMHO, if you are looking for a petrol sedan, you would do well to look at the Hyundai Accent executive. 5.6 Lakhs approx OTR Hyd. plus there is about 20 K discounts going so you can get it for 5.4

amazing VFM deal and decently loaded car (AC, PS, PW, Remote CL, beige and wood interiors etc.)- very very reliable, well built, good looking and great A.S.S.

Fe would be around 10 in city and 15 on h/w

Swift DDiS all the way. If you can live with the shape, then it has to be Dzire DDiS.

Indica Vista Quadrajet can also be an option. But you will have to assume and hope that it has a good resale value.

Looks more like you are seeking confirmation on an opinion already formed (- Swift D).

  • Top 5 preference:
    • FE
    • Resale
    • Comfort
    • Brand image
    • Boot space ( I dun’t mind if it is a hatch boot as long as I can fold the rear seat)
  • Things I don’t care
    • Power/Torque
    • Space in rear seat
    • VFM – I may not keep that long
  • Should be a “new wine in a new bottle” not “old wine in a new bottle” or “new wine in a old bottle” – you know what I mean…
  • If there were more than one car to choose from, I would go for the one which has lower price and more options
I really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Thanked: Once

possible choices:
1) Swift/DZire VDi
2) Ford Ikon 1.4 Duratorque (Diesel)
3) Fiat Palio Stile MJD

i recommend the Ikon as it gives the best boot (quite naturally) and excellent mileage... The fiat mill is the original wonder which also powers the Swift... only reason you should opt for the Stile is if there is a huge waiting period for the Swift....

when do you plan to buy the car??
