Can you suggest me a car?

Folks:
I have the following search criteria:
  • Has to be a diesel car, no petrol please.
  • Can be a hatch or a sedan
  • Budget : OTR 6 lacks ( this is my hard stop – can’t go 1 rupee beyond that )
  • Top 5 preference:
    • FE
    • Resale
    • Comfort
    • Brand image
    • Boot space ( I dun’t mind if it is a hatch boot as long as I can fold the rear seat)
  • Things I don’t care
    • Power/Torque
    • Space in rear seat
    • VFM – I may not keep that long
  • Should be a “new wine in a new bottle” not “old wine in a new bottle” or “new wine in a old bottle” – you know what I mean…
  • If there were more than one car to choose from, I would go for the one which has lower price and more options
I really appreciate your help.

Thanks!
Mohandas

Looks like a puzzle which has been solved already by you. Maruti Swift VDI is the one you would be looking for...

The swift does match the requirements But the waiting period is high (3-6 months). The other option would probably be the new ford ikon. I dont think you need to look any further given your budget.
Other options would be the i10 and the indica vista. Why dont you wait for the i20?
My order of preference: ikon(if not willing to wait) -> i20(if willing to wait) -> i10 with all the stuff you get with it. And even if you accessorize it wont exceed 6lakhs. -> swift vdi -> indica vista. Good luck choosing

None other than Swift VDi

i doubt if we have any "new vine in a new bottle". All are almost either this or that.

You have not mentioned about the A.S.S., so may be try Ford Ikon, but your resale will get a little hit.

Btw, how much is TATA Indigo CS TDi or Dicor?

Only one car fits this bill to the T. That is the Maruti suzuki swift vdi, look no further, if you can manage the waiting period.

For great resale, get the swift diesel.
Lesser price, get the palio diesel.
even lesser price, get the Indica dicor.

SWIFT VDI it should be except of course for the waiting period
the other contenders would not qualify in one criteria or the other you have mentioned in the "things i dont care" category

IKON - old wine/old bottle
INDICA VISTA - no brand image
PALIO DIESEL - old wine/old bottle - but u shud note that old wine in old bottle is quite sought after - but of course u shud know ur wine before doing that..

so for all practical purposes SWIFT IT IS

Indica DLS NA. or DLG Turbo. CHEAP. Comfortable. Decent resale if you go for Vista variants.

Your requirements and things you dont care about has the Swift Diesel witten all around. LDi or VDi depends on the price at your city and your budget.

Hey since you didnt write "old wine in an old bottle", i would suggest you go for a 2nd hand car since you dont wanna keep it for long (cars have their highest depreciation in the first year so a new car will hit your resale a lot if u sell it in 1-2 years)

But since you want a "new wine in a new bottle", I also THink Swift would be the best option, though its an old wine in a new bottle but we all know older the wine better it tastes.

All the best!!
