Beat is a good car in the small car segment and offers great value for money pricing and quite good features like climate control.
I am surprised that when companies give a quote for a model they dont share the LT (O) (- the one with ABS and Airbags) price. I totally understand that you might not be interested in it for budget reasons but looks like Companies don't even want to promote their safe top end models.

BEAT - my favorite small car!

Go for it!

Simply an amazing VFM car; NO car in that segment possesses the personality that this little beauty does.

Performance wise its par for course ( all 1.2 lit car are almost homogenous

Which colour?

My favs were the Green and red! Saw come real cool Black ones too!

Advice needed on buying Chevy Beat

Hey Guys,

I want to buy a hatchback with a budget of 4 lac - 4.5lac OTR. Initially. I have the following requirements:

1. Value for money hatchback with a good fuel efficiency.
2. One that has a decent power and comfortable ride.
3. One that is safe to ride in the highway for 500 - 600 Km.

I read some rave reviews on Alto K-10. I was inclined to buy it.

Finally, after some market study, price - analysis and surfing I short listed the following car:

Alto K - 10
Chevrolet Beat
Wagon R new K - Series
Santro Xing

I tested Santro Xing: It lacked the power that I am looking for.

Then I tested Chevrolet Beat: I loved the car. Interior was good.

Alto K - 10: Disliked the interior, I feel the car has nothing except a responsive engine which delivers an awesome acceleration.

I was most comfortable driving the Wagon R. The Engine was responsive, the gear shift was smoother than that of Chevy Beat. I felt the Wagon R engine to be sound less and more responsive than that of Chevy Beat's.

Now overall I am in a dilemma, my head says Wagon R but my heart says Chevy Beat. Of course I drove the Chevy with Auto Climate control, but in Wagon R the A/C was switched Off. I am going to take another test ride on Chevy Beat tomorrow with the A/C switched off.

I tested Chevy at Trident Chevrolet, Bangalore. Now the dealer is offering me 20000/- cash discount but no free service. I have to pay 13000/- for that. I heard they used to give some other accessories like auto cop and sun film free, now that is also chargeable.

Hey Gurus please let me know if I am correct in my analysis of Beat & Wagon R. How does Chevy Beat LS compare with Wagon R LXI. I am not looking for Auto Climate control and other advanced features.

For me reliability, power, FE, ride comfort, stability and a spacious interior is more important.

Re: Advice needed on buying Chevy Beat

hi, Im to in a similar dilemma, but for your requirements I'd say go for the beat unless you really need spacious interiors. The airy feel and all those cubbyholes, cupholders, etc make the wagonr a better choice but the beat has this thing that just aims for your heart and convinces you to buy it!
The decision is all yours!

Re: Advice needed on buying Chevy Beat

I believe Beat is way better built than Wagonr. The interiors are also smart in Beat. only thing to compromise is the boot space. but what you gain in the process is
- a head turner on the road
- great interiors
- decent performance, more powerful than wagonr
- better planted car on the highways
- 3 years maintenance cost free ownership

Wagonr always has the Maruti value to it with excellent A.S.S. My personal choice would be the Chevy (no offence to current or potential owners of Wagonr )

Cheers!!

Re: Advice needed on buying Chevy Beat

Hey ayrtonsenna, go for the Beat. It is a way better car than Wagon R, but loses ony on two counts - Resale price and roomy back seat. If you can live with this and intend to hold the car for a long period, Beat is a blind option.

Re: Advice needed on buying Chevy Beat

The Beat now has the Smartec Engine developed locally. Better performance and higher fuel economy. I'm planning to buy the Beat for my mother. She absolutely loves it. I suggest you get the Beat over all the other vehicles you mentioned.

Re: Advice needed on buying Chevy Beat

Hello guys,

I have finally bought the Chevy Beat in Black Color. I got the basic version, the one only with the power steering and AC. The vehicle is amazing, already completed 1600 kms in 20 days.

Went on a couple of long drives actually. Will post the pics by tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who contributed their precious time in giving amazing feedback.

I really appreciate everyone's effort.

Thank you again.

Re: Advice needed on buying Chevy Beat

Yesterday I went to the Sundaram Motors showroom on Mount Road to check out the Chevy twins and the deals offered to me are
1. Chevy Spark- 55K off on any version. The discount is on the final price.
2. Chevy Beat- 30K off on the ex-showroom price. No free maintenance package.Need to pay 13.5k for it. When I mentioned I have U-Va at home, so logically will get 10k off + Chevy cashless offer= 23.5k. Net gain for me is around 6.5K.
Have also been to Khivraj Motors to check out the Alto twins.
1. Alto 800 - 20K cash discount final price = 314000.
2. Alto K10- 10K off. Final price 350000.
Wifey says if we go above 3.5 lacs, Beat is a better option. Else Alto 800. We can take insurance from outisde and save 2K more.
Folks in Chennai do pitch in if you have come across better options/ deals.
