Would have worked if he was not told upfront about it. But he mentioned that he was told about going the synthetic oil route. So, I dont see them backing up.

Ofcourse, he could fight back using the car manual (assuming it is mentioned there that mineral oil should be used). This would be contradictory to what they told him (Ford recommends ....).

Anyway, give it a fight. Thats quite some money involved there.

P.S.: It is always better to be aware ourselves than just take the dealer's word as to what the manufacturer recommends.

I had my 3rd service at Ford 1 week back.Oil,filter & petrol filter change was Rs.1600.labor was free.The nest 6 months service involves the same changes but labor is charged - 1600+1600The service engineer said they used Castrol.
