Re: Chevrolet Captiva for 2012

I saw this test mule at ITPB Parking lot, Bangalore. GM's R & D Division is here.

Seems it's imported from Australia. Had Holden monogram on the steering wheel.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

The new one looks more of the same rather than new, yes improvements all around a bit of the outlander upfront, the rear somehow looked better in the current one, this one looks simpler and newer if one looks at it +vely.

They now with the XUV out need to relook at the pricing as well, if they wish to move numbers. The have the AT Edge, but are really outpricing themselves.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

Have always liked the way Captiva looks. Definitely a nice softroader, except for the price. Hope the new one is a CKD in the 15-18 lakh price range. That will make people sit up and take notice.

Mate that is some really wishful thinking. At 15-18L it might just eat all the other SUVs out there. I think the prices will only go north with the new launch.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

CKD route has the possibility for pricing Captiva at 14-17L. Volumes secured by XUV5OO should encourage Chevy management to price the new captiva agressively.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

Found out the pricing of the Captiva Automatic in Mumbai, its 20,99,255 ex show room as of now. I really dont think that the new one will be priced any lower then this. Maybe a lakh more, but not less. If you look at sales figures of the past few months, they seem happy with the low sales figures. And the dealer said no discounts and no deals on the Captiva. Makes you wonder sometimes what these MNC's are thinking. I had negotiated a Nov 2008 Petrol Prado to 15 Lakhs with 40,000km on it. However the deal fell through as I was outbidded by a lakh. The car finally went for 16. So think about it what makes more sense, a 3 year old Prado or a New Captiva?? In my mind there is no doubt that the Prado is a better deal. Lets see what happens when the new car is launched.

Seriously, a 3 yr old Prado will be a better deal anyday. I have a 1997 Prado still running superbly. Although I upgraded to an X5 dont have the heart to sell the Prado since its running so well.

On the Captiva, Chevy has an opportunity to rake in huge numbers with some aggressive pricing. With XUV500 completely sold out propspective buyers will not mind spending a few lakhs more for the chevy badge. A 16- 17 lakh price can do wonders for this car.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

The Captiva serves no purpose at all at the price it comes for it.

But some are forced to go for it due to it being the ONLY AT Softroader. And if one does not like the middle row vomit seats of the Endy then the Captiva is the only SUV / Crossover this side of 30L in AT.

But the XUV, Aria etc do make it seem overpriced for what it offers. The Sales figures reflect that. The new one will not revive the car unless it is accompanied by a significant price drop and partial localization but that as usual is unlikely.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

Hormazd confirms that the new Captiva will be a CKD unlike the current CBU units. He also says price is likely to remain the same. Autocar reviews the face lifted Captiva. Below is the video link.

Highlights:
  • 2 engine options
  • 2.2L 163 & 184 bhp versions - not sure which version will come to India
  • Engines are better refined
  • Better equipment levels
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Hard clutch for manual
  • 6 speed manual and 6 speed autobox available

Surely the new Captiva. I saw it today morning near Bommanahalli. Was on my bike, hence couldnt take pics. The front looked quite different from the current model.

I really like the new Captiva & looking forward to its launch. Just one query - does it have rear AC vents? The older one dint have it.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

If the new Captiva is going to be a CKD and not a CBU, they why exactly will prices remain the same?

Oh and I, for one, definitely think the current one is one of the smartest looking SUVs around. Neither too soccer mom, nor too Shrek the ogre. This new one looks like it's yawning and pissed off at the same time.

re: 2011 / 2012 / 2013 Chevrolet Captiva

IAB speculates a late March 2012 launch. They also state that there will be NO local manufacturing & prices are set to be around 20-22L compared to 18-20L bracket now!

Chevrolet Captiva 2.2L coming by late March
