Thanks Dot for the pictures. That 2000 Civic reminded me of the Old Honda City. IIRC the City used to come in that same green

You need not state that i<3turbo. Your posts in this thread and the fact that you have owned so many Civics are more than enough to state that fact.

Exactly my point. Why couldn't they wait for 40 years and 20 million customers before celebrating the heritage? But, when we dive deeper into it, its obvious that Honda wants to push the 9th gen Civic (which has just been launched and have not received great reviews) by proving a point that 'Civic' is an iconic brand. If we note the video closely, the latest 9th gen Civic never appears anywhere and they just keep showing everything till the 8th gen. At the end of that video though, Honda makes it a point to promote the 2012 9th gen Civic. How I wish Honda improved on the styling, features, interiors and engine of the 8th gen model? Sadly, they didn't in most aspects.

Thats total drool stuff. I love the car, the color, the photos and literally everything about it. And with more than 350HP in it, that should be a cracker of a drive. I totally envy you man (just for the sake of owning that beauty on wheels)! I wish I could drive something like this (that not only looks but also moves like one) one day.

358whp? Dude thats wicked. I am sorry, but I have not come across your impressions on your Civic in this forum (my bad perhaps). Is it there anywhere? In case not, why dont you write something more on it. We will be certainly interested to know how the power was boosted to such amazing levels.

My 2dr coupe was a total racecar. I track raced it almost every other weekend in the summer. 358 whp is nothing by the way because if i had gotten meth to cool things down a little more with a smaller pulley than the stage 3 one i had i could have crossed 375+ whp. But then again i never got to run it on a mustang dyno i always ran it on a dyno jet which sometimes reads high by 2-3%. I had full bolt ons, type r cams, jackson racing supercharger stage 3 with a aftercooler tuned for 93 octane, ny heads were also ported and polished. I basically did everything i could without touching the internals on the block.

The red 4 dr had full bolts as well, ported intake manifold, bigger throttle body, and a nice 20 pound bottle of nitrous. I had two nozzle setups sometimes i ran a 75 shot the most i ran was a 100 shot which put me at 345 whp but on a regular setup safely i would be at 320 ish which isnt bad for a n/a car on spray.

And if your wondering through hondata, i set my vtec to kick in at 4300 rpms and rev up to 8800 rpms

Agreed, the cars till early 2000 were distinctly Japanese. They had such a clean design. I am not sure what is Japanese or Korean or Malaysian (Proton) these days.

Oh yes, but I guess the imitators are to be blamed here. It reached to such a level that when the Accord was launched, many commented that it looked like the Sonata

That said, I feel the current Civic have got something special in it. A decade later, this very car could evoke lots of nostalgic memories, and maybe even termed as one of the best from Honda.

Honda is replacing them with the same engine that comes in the Acura TSX. Honda should actually put the 2.3L Turbo Charged motor from the Acura RDX that would be fun but regardless the suspension setup on the new 9th gens suck.

On the side note guys, the whole tuner/car modification industry started with civics (well atleast in the states).
Honda/Acura doesnt offer any sports cars anymore, they stopped production on the NSX and S2k and now the 9th gen civic with no real eye catching numbers on paper and on the track.
That is an impressive collection! You must be the 'God of all things Civic'. I envy you.

I was always an admirer of Honda and Civic(they say a tuner's delight). But my expectations were not exactly met with the R18 civic(the only one that is available for us, hapless Indians).

Agreed that it has a very refined engine that likes to be revved to its redline. But the kick in your back you get when you down shift and when the rev climbs to the redline, the feeling of being sling shot out of a cannon, is missing. I am comparing it to my previous car (ohc vtec) here. The 160 bhp Laura TSI seems to be in a different league. Honda seems have been beaten in their own game.

And guess what? They don't care. I was looking at the 2012 civic with great enthusiasm. But what the heck? The R18 engine that is offered is almost identical with the current one! The literature on the launch was crapping something about increased efficiency. I think that is when I started hating the word 'fuel efficiency'. I was hoping to see some great advancements
in engine technology. Disappointed? Ask me not! The tone of my previous post was the result.

But then I go out and drive it and all bitterness is gone. It is pure bliss.Revv the nuts of it and it will plaster a broad stupid smile on your face. That is what I want. And it delivers. All other things are wishes! And if wishes were horses
