I don't know why, but I feel that the Mini is going to meet the same fate as the Fiat 500.

In Indian marketplace, there is a direct co-relation between the price point and the size of the vehicle. So a hatch however HOT would struggle to get the attention it deserves purely based on performance and lineage.

PS: Myself and my daughter are BIG fans of the Mini. Would love to see a bright yellow or red one on the Mumbai roads soon.

Are these on road prices or ex showroom prices?. I was told the Mini on road starts from 24 Lakhs to 35 lakhs in Bombay. Steep in my opinoun and i dont see too many cars selling just like its two friends the Beetle and Fiat 500.

as far as im told who has joined mini prices start at 30 laks. at 16 laks and automatics its going to be a hit for sure. in one year time i wont be shocked to see CKD units as well

I really hope it does not go down the FIAT 500 route. I really love the car but at these prices it is quite unaffordable save for the luck few.

Is the price kind of official? Where did you get the price from Ankur?


I am considering the Mini, although I am not sure how I can get them in Hyd. Cooper One is underpowered. But the Cooper S is a stonker and I thought it was around 23kUSD right? It wouldn't be unusual for it to be priced 50KUSD with the duties added. That would be about 25L ex-showroom. So that 18L price for the 'S' looks a lot better than what some of us expected.

The similarity of the Mini and Swift's design will do the Swift a world of good. Mini worldwide is known to offer a slew of customisable options like wheels, decals, roof designs.

If these are offered in India as well, the after-market operators would be quick to dupliacte them and tailor it to the Swift. Hay-day for all those looking to mod their Swifts

While I agree with you on the size to price ratio that wouldn't work in a market like ours, the 500 was actually a big big hit in India. Fiat chose to sell only a limited number of 500s and that's why we don't get to see too many of them. But I personally know 10 people who say that they would have bought it for 15-20 lakhs if it is still available!

The 500 was used by Fiat as a promotional exercise. Unlike the Beetle, though, there was a restriction on the number of 500s imported and sold here.

This car was bought recently and the previous owner had it from 2001 when he got it brand new in London, she made her way to India in 2004 or 2005. I have used the car once as it belongs to my brother. I found the car very peppy for its engine size and automatic gearbox. The interior space is also very good and this car has the panoramic roof which gives it a very open feel.

Vij i believe the Mini would be retailed through the BMW dealerships around the country since they are under the same unbrella.

If you are looking at city use the cooper one does a good job of it due to the power to weight ratio it does not feel sluggish at all. If you compare it to the cooper S then yes you would be dissapointed. I am looking at getting the convertible to complete the pair.

Vij i believe the Mini would be retailed through the BMW dealerships around the country since they are under the same unbrella.

The official Mini showrooms would be in Delhi and Bombay but the other states will not be left behind, till their showrooms open you can book through your local BMW dealer. This is what i was told as a friend of mine in another state wanted to buy the Copper S.

This car is a Bombay car and was sparingly used by the previous owner, She came to my brother 3 weeks ago and since he lives in Bandra you will see her more often.
