320d v/s 328i Acceleration comparison

This video will be quite helpful to understand the acceleration difference of the 2 engines to be launched in the Indian market.

328i is simply phenomenal in acceleration & the gear shifts are lightning quick & try just looking at the speedometer & not the tachometer you hardly can notice a gear change.

Where as the 320d is fast too, but it runs out of juice after 180 km/h in comparison to the high revving 328i, but still the fact remains that the 320d still is pretty quick car & would be selling nos.

Got a chance to TD the 328i, unfortunately this was a CBU without the paddle shifters, and was fairly stripped down without most of the goodies such as the sport seats/nav/HUD/sunroof etc that come with the 328i in India. Was a reasonably short TD, since they were still wary of the attention it may get, so didn't really get to test its limits but this IS the engine to go for if you absolutely care nothing about mileage/resale and are looking for absolute performance. Else I still believe on our roads the 320d as always will more than suffice.

Though Priced at about 41L Thane, for the luxury plus, this is 2-3 lacs more than BMW should have priced it. Guess a few months down the line, once the initial euphoria wears off, expect discounts on the lines of the "C" and "A4"

BMW India launches all-new 3 Series at 28.9 lakhs

Hurrah! That time of year has come when BMW 3-series has been launched in a 2012 disguise. The company has launched their 2012 bread-and-butter model with a range of engines.

BMW has launched the new 3-series saloon at a starting price tag of Rs 28.9 lakh for the base 320d variant, going up to Rs 37.9 lakh for the petrol 328i Sportline variant. The new model features stunning exterior design and looks like a scaled-down 5-series.

The car will be powered by two engines, a diesel 2.0-litre four-pot producing 181bhp and 38.74kgm of torque, along with a petrol 2.0-litre four-cylinder pumping out 241bhp and 35.69kgm of torque.

Thus, By this move, BMW has attempted to disappear the line between their bread-and-butter model and executive model, the 5 series, which itself borrows heavily from the flagship, 7-Series.

is the base line F30 a Corporate Edition version of E90? because as far as I know the current CE is price ex showroom at 25.5 lacs but the base line F30 is 3.5 lacs more expensive. I thought there was only minor increase in prices for the F30. Or the base line is not the CE version?

Well well well! The new one finally arrives.

An interesting point to see here is the price difference between the Luxury Line and the Luxury line plus 320d. The difference is 4.4 lacs which would be approx. 5 lacs difference to the on-road price. For this you get the following:

1. The sunroof (was given in the earlier exclusive ed)
2. A bigger better i-drive
3. Navigation
4. Rear view camera
5. Hi-fi loudspeaker system (was given in the earlier exclusive ed)
6. BMW Apps

Are these really worth 5 lacs? In my opinion, the Luxury Line Plus will have few takers at this price. Given a 37 lac ex-showroom, the Gurgaon on-road including a 5 year BSI Ultimate will be more than 43-44 lacs! That is simply insane and also within a 1 lac difference to the 520d assuming no discounts on the 520d (whereas they do have a 2 lac offering thus making it cheaper!)

Can you confirm that the 520d is running a 2 lac discount right now? I think the ex-showroom price is 37.2 for the 520d so that will make it 35.2 ? Sounds like a good discount as most ownership threads mentioned that the discounts on 520d were not substantial when they made their purchase.

Well, just spoke with a sales guy on the phone and he offered 1.25 lacs straightaway. Assuming further negotiations, 2 or at least 1.5 would be easy. This is bird auto in gurgaon if you're interested.

Ah. Mixed reactions about the pricing. I don't see too many going for the 320d luxury line plus when you can get the a4 3.0 Quattro for 1.8 lakhs more. Sportsline and luxury line are priced reasonably and I expect the majority to go for these trims. The basic 320d without xenons and the led rings would look quite sad imho.
