As others have rightly written, Maruti Suzuki Ritz, Suzuki Splash, Opel Agila, Vauxhall Agila etc are essentially the same car. And GM and Suzuki had a very strong partnership and that is one of the ways Suzuki got the license to the Fiat MJD engines. It was GM which was involved in the partnership with Fiat and it was Suzuki's partnership with GM that helped them to get the MJD tech.
Just google "GM-Suzuki partnership" and you'll get lot of info.

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

May be they are testing a 1L DDiS / K10B engined Ritz! Other markets have a 1L K10B engined Splash.

My hope: their 'rear-lifted' model co-exist with the current model: new rear-lifted model with 1.2L K-series and 1.3L DDiS (with current prices), and current model with 1L DDiS and K10B (with a price range of 3.5L - 5.5L)! And, the rear-lift should look like this:

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

To me, both the Beat and the Ritz have very similar lines at the rear. The silhouette under a tight car cover wouldn't be too different.

Yet the Chevy looks real smart from the rear unlike the Maruti. That rear spoiler with legs and the chic tail lights make the overall design look good. I like the Beat rear.

So maybe MSIL can get inspired. Ditching those boomerang tail lights can be first step.

+1. Beat looks like a small sibling of Ritz from rear. Also, I don't think they will test 1L engine in Ritz, it will be pointless to have 2 diesel engines powering same car. Maruti is already working on 1L diesel for introducing in WagonR, so trying the same in Ritz is bit far stretched.

They plan to use the 1.0L DDiS in Wagon R. Ritz will continue to use the 1.3L DDiS I believe. May be they are testing it after the fine tuning done same as the Swift] for better FE & linear acceleration! And same for the petrol variant.

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

Is there anything wrong with the front/rear-wheel camber?

PS: looks like an accidental car.

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

I'm rather skeptical about this pic. It looks like any run of the mill Ritz to me. If it's a facelift where is the camouflage, I don't see any. About the heavily bandaged front end may be it was involved in a shunt.

No chance. If it was an accident car, they would first have camouflaged the number plate than the damaged area, IMO.

Source: Maruti Ritz next in line for makeover | mydigitalfc.com

According to this source, the Ritz "is expected to be produced on new platform (?) with a fresh front grille design and sharper headlamps". So the camouflages make sense here!

Why would someone mask the rear badges when the front end gets hit?

I feel romeomidhun could be right. They might be testing engines. Either K10 engine (Could take it further down the ladder and away from Swift), or may be CNG/ LPG versions of the original.

I don't think they might be testing a new diesel simply because they dont have any! FIAT is rumoured to be working on the same though.

But I'm surprised they have the front all covered. A 'face'lift is definitely not priority for the Ritz, compared to a 'back'lift.

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

If it's a 'backlift' where is the lift, I don't see any change at all. Why is the back left naked and front all covered up? If its a back lift it must at least have a tarpaulin cover to mask it. I'm still not convinced with this pic. Funny thing is IAB also has shared it.

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

Hope this doesn't turn out to be a phoney. It doesn't look very different. In fact, this could just be a regular Ritz that has been 'customized'. I don't know. Looks like we'll just have to wait for further details.

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

face-lift?? what?? where? All i can see is same rammed from behind look. And look at that Agila pic that the gentleman has posted, Its so clean, elegant and futuristic.
A humble yet out-there look - Sorry Ritz, long way to go.

Re: Facelifted Maruti Ritz round the corner?

As with the couple of others in here, I also dont think its a facelift. It can be a engine change or an introduction of an automatic variant.
